We believe that learning something new while enjoying the process is one of the best ways to enrich our lives. As part of Toastmasters International [toastmasters.org], Armada Toastmasters is more than just a club; it’s a community of individuals committed to personal growth. With members from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, our club is also a great place to broaden your social and cultural horizons. Our meetings focus on three key areas to help you become a better communicator in both your personal and professional life:

At last month's COT Ismail Panda Lokhat showed exactly how to combine laughter and leadership! With irony, understatement and observational humour, he managed to change a crowd that was talking amongst themselves to an audience that was silent and hanging on his every word.

At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed an inspiring Toastmasters meeting with a full room at Armada Toastmasters 🤩
Thanks to our Toastmaster Sylvina, we reflected on several tips & tricks to effectively plan for success. We found out the benefits of planning to avoid failing, the importance of knowing exactly where we are and where we want to go, and the need to break a big project into smaller tasks and celebrate successes at each step of the ex*****on 😮✊📈
Our first-time Table Topics Master Alizee transformed all the brave participants into animals, in celebration for the Lunar New Year. We welcomed on the stage, amongst others, a vegetarian alligator 🐊, a giraffe who wants to be short 🦒, a rabbit using online maps to arrive on time 🐇, and a lion who wants to protect others 🦁 and the best friend of the unicorns 🦄
Our president Sarah delivered an insightful speech about the importance of welcoming advice from all people around us and accepting we may not know everything yet and shared valuable feedback she received from her life mentors in the family and at work 👍🤝
Kudos to Nanica and Alizee who took a new role for the first time, to Simone who accepted to fill a role at the last minute and to our guest Monica for winning the Table Topics vote🏆🏅

What a start of the year we had at Armada Toastmasters with a national strike impacting our first gathering! We demonstrated flexibility and adaptability and managed to have a successful hybrid meeting with an intimate atmosphere 😮✊🤝
Our Toastmaster of the evening Christine made us reflect on our new year resolutions, and as you can guess, they mostly relate to developing skills and competencies, and recovering from the excess at the end of the last year 📈😵
In the Table Topics led by Marina, we discussed tips and tricks, and motivations strategies to learn a new language 🗣️🌍
Then we had a speech explaining us about the upcoming contest season at Toastmasters, and the incredible learning opportunity we can all get by taking part in it, participants all win one way or another 🏅
Kudos to our most recent members Nanica and Alizée who both took a new role for the first time, respectively grammarian and timer! 🏆👏

Hope you all enjoyed some well-deserved holidays and are slowly getting ready to start a new year of inspiration, team collaboration and personal development at Toastmasters. Our next meeting will be on Monday 13th January at Elzenhof. Stay tuned for more information...

We completed a successful freestyle meeting on Monday, with more guests than club members! 🤩
Nanica delivered her icebreaker speech, and we learnt how important discipline is for her and how it is this driver that brought her to Toastmasters! ✊😃👏Congratulations Nanica on this achievement of delivering the first ever speech in Toastmasters! 🏆
Our guest Quentin from Leuven Toastmasters delivered a last-minute mostly-prepared-partly-improvised speech and brought us all in the Amazon jungle to deliver an important inspiring message to a close relative 🌳🛵. And this gave an opportunity for all members and guests to get experience as evaluator in a round table group evaluation session! 🤝
Chiara led an entertaining and dynamic Table Topics session about contraries and decisions 🤔😮. Several guests participated in the improvisation for the first or second time and performed very well! And we got 3 winners: Michele, Alexia and Marie! 🥇

Kudos to the members and guests who accepted roles long time in advance and at the last minute at the start of the meeting, demonstrating both planning and flexibility skills 👏🏅

Keep the dates for our upcoming meetings in December, adapted to free up the holiday season, we will meet on Monday December 9th and Monday December 16th at Elzenhof (and online if there is interest for it) 🗓️✍️

I have a good news and a bad news, which one do you want to hear first?
The good news? We had yet another amazing, inspiring and instructive meeting at Armada Toastmasters with a full room at Elzenhof and online participants on Zoom! 🤩🤗
Empezamos con una introducción de los participantes y presentamos lo que nos ESPANTAMOS. Los peores son insectos y la altura. Sin sorpresa, nadie declara ser asustado por hablar en publico 🪳🕷️🤡
Our Toastmaster of the Day Chiara presented us the origin of both Halloween in Celtic culture and Día de Mu***os in Mexico and their opposite nature, the first being about protecting the livings from scary dead and the latest from warmly welcoming them back! 💀🧟👻
El líder de la sesión de improvisación Michele nos invita en un viaje de Bruselas a México City para celebrar el Día de Mu***os ahí. El viaje incluye encender un fuego, traer fuegos artificiales en el avión, comer especialidades de México, construir un altar y dar un brindis de tequila con los mu***os 🎆🌮🇲🇽🍹
In the second part of the meeting, Sylvina gave us a demo about the new Toastmasters Base Camp platform and Abdul practiced a speech he will give soon at work, what a better place than Toastmasters to get valuable feedback before giving the speech in front of a more difficult audience? 😮🤝
We concluded with a constructive evaluation part from which all speakers and guests learnt a lot. Kudos to all evaluators and particularly those who accepted a role or two at the last minute!! 🏆👏
And what about the bad news? Well, we promised a spooky meeting, but we didn’t really deliver, Base Camp being the most frightening topic we dived into… 😱

We had another successful event at Armada Toastmasters on Monday both at Elzenhof and online! 😃
This meeting was special as we enjoyed a memorable and inspiring workshop by Happy & Hectic Helena le Goff Jedrzejowicz who gave us many tips and tricks to nurture our inner champion 🤸‍♀️🏅 Key takeaways include the importance of knowing where we are and where we want to go to find out the best way to reach it, and how to prepare an effective personal development plan 🤨📈✊
And Helena also learnt something on the day, by practicing setting up an interactive poll during the workshop and receiving valuable feedback from her personal evaluator Sarah to improve the workshop before delivering it again 🤝
Then we had a challenging improvised session of Table Topics led by Sylvina, breaking the limits 😯
Neha and our guest Raoul both encouraged us to try new things regularly, Helena admired scientists who manage to push back the limits when other might think it was impossible, Nanica gave us her 3 tips to prepare for a competition and Sarah shared her key learnings from participating in Toastmasters competitions. They were evaluated by the brave Virginia who accepted the role at the last minute 🤩👏🏆
Our next meeting will be on Monday 28 October, more information to come soon!

Last Monday we had a great meeting in Elzenhof! 🤩
Armada members and guests admitted to being respectful tourists, enjoying the places they discover in their travels 🌴 🏖 ✈
Jack led the Table Topics through some awkward situations but everyone managed to come out with flying colours. Christine taught us that it is best to visit the museum and then have the coffee. Alizée was a brave guest that took us to a St Patricks' parade in Dublin. Abdul showed the many uses of a toothbrush while travelling. Wadi forgot to charge his kindle but managed to read someone else's book. Nanica proved that walking is the best way to discover a city, even if it's from the Airport. Michele pasó de volverse loco por terremotos a volverse loco por su familia ☕ 🍀 📷
Helena nos ayudó a 'Alcanzar la Cima' con su magnífico discurso en español and we learned everything about The Observability trend from Abdul! ✊ 👏

Next meeting is on 14 October @ Elzenhof! 😀

Who are we?
The Armada Toastmasters club is part of Toastmasters International and it is the only bilingual club Spanish/English in Brussels.
Our mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

Armada Toastmasters Club is back from the summer holidays! ☀️
We met for the first time in our new home, Elzenhof community center in Ixelles, to talk about our values 😮
Our Toastmaster of the Day invited us to reflect on our personal values, what is essential for us to feel good with ourselves and develop strong relationship with others, including respect, trust, honesty, kindness. We then reviewed Toastmasters core values, our drivers as members, officers and leaders: Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence 😀🤝👍
Our Table Topics Master Robin-Anna invited 6 members to participate in Table Topics about values and leadership styles of unforgettable leaders that have inspired and developed others. We discussed the importance of trusting people to make them flourish, leading by example, showing empathy in difficult situations, jumping on new opportunities and connecting with people 🌷🤩🙏
In a very dynamic and energetic speech, Chiara explained us how to define and develop a growth mindset, like a child who will keep on falling and getting back on their bike until they get confident at riding it, or a scientist who will made lot of trials before creating something new 🚴🔬✊
Our evaluators Michele, Jack and General Evaluator Helena gave us lessons of active listening and analysing by providing valuable to all the speakers and attendees 🏅

Nos reunimos por primera vez en nuestro nuevo hogar, el centro comunitario Elzenhof en Ixelles, para hablar sobre nuestros valores 😮
Nuestro Toastmaster del Día nos invitó a reflexionar sobre nuestros valores personales, lo que es esencial para sentirnos bien con nosotros mismos y desarrollar relaciones sólidas con los demás, incluyendo el respeto, la confianza, la honestidad y la amabilidad. Luego revisamos los valores fundamentales de Toastmasters, que nos guían como miembros, oficiales y líderes: Integridad, Respeto, Servicio y Excelencia 😀🤝👍
Nuestra Maestra de Improvisaciones, Robin-Anna, invitó a 6 miembros a participar en temas improvisados sobre los valores y estilos de liderazgo de líderes inolvidables que han inspirado y desarrollado a otros. Hablamos sobre la importancia de confiar en las personas para que puedan prosperar, liderar con el ejemplo, mostrar empatía en situaciones difíciles, aprovechar nuevas oportunidades y conectar con las personas 🌷🤩🙏
En un discurso muy dinámico y enérgico, Chiara nos explicó cómo definir y desarrollar una mentalidad de crecimiento, como un niño que sigue cayéndose y volviendo a subirse a la bicicleta hasta que se siente seguro montándola, o un científico que realiza muchas pruebas antes de crear algo nuevo 🚴🔬✊
Nuestros evaluadores, Michele, Jack y la Evaluadora General Helena, nos dieron lecciones de escucha activa y análisis al proporcionar comentarios valiosos a todos los oradores y asistentes 🏅
