During the closing ceremony, Secretary Social Welfare Department and Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Programme Manager NRM (GBRSP), emphasized the critical role of society in ensuring child protection.

It was highlighted that a Child Protection Unit has been established under the Gilgit-Baltistan Child Protection and Welfare Act 2017, with an active Child Protection Commission functioning under the same framework.

A total of 32 sessions were conducted over the eight days, evenly divided between caregivers and children. Key topics included family well-being, caregiver self-care, child safety, positive parenting, emotional support, child development (ages 0 to17), non-violent communication, problem-solving, respectful relationships, and children’s rights and personal safety. Practical sessions focused on self-awareness, community involvement, understanding rights and needs, physical autonomy, and effective communication.
Representatives from the Human Rights Commission, Child Protection Committees, and civil society organizations highlighted the urgent need for functional shelters for women and children in Gilgit-Baltistan. Concerns were also raised regarding the transfer of such facilities to other institutions, which may limit access for vulnerable groups.
