Embassy of Ethiopia attends the 82nd CFC Executive Board Meeting

The Ethiopian Delegation, led by H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, Governor of Ethiopia to the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and Member of the Executive Board of the Fund participated in the 82nd meeting of the Bord on 16 September 2026 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The Executive Board discussed on ranges of issues aimed at strengthening the organization’s capacity to support commodity-producing countries through financial and technical assistance particularly the necessity of promoting value addition, humanizing value chains and sustainable market access that include update on the implementation of CFC Strategic Framework 2025-2035, project proposals for 2028, the CFC operational programme for 2027, administrative budget 2027 and nomination of members of the Consultative Committee for the term 2027-2028 were also discussed.
In his statement at the meeting, Ambassador Eshete Tilahun highlighted among others, Ethiopia’s commodity production potential, agricultural development achievements and commitment to sustainable development. He commended the efforts of the CFC in providing financial and technical support to the smallholder farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Moreover, he emphasized the importance of diversifying sources of financing to meet growing demands of the commodity producing countries, particularly Least Developed Countries (LDCs). He also underscored the importance of further enhancing humanizing value chains.
Several interventions were made by the Ethiopian Delegation highlighting the importance of transparency, regional distribution of projects and personnel assignments to ensure justified beneficiation and equity.
