I wanted to inform you that I've accepted another job opportunity and today was my last day with the . From 1st of June I will be a Project Adviser in the Innovation Fund Unit at , responsible for a portfolio Innovation Fund projects in the areas of hydrogen production/use and transport.

When I joined DG CLIMA, back in 2013, I was supposed to start almost from scratch developing VECTO, a new simulation tool that would be used for the calculation of HDVs’ CO2 emissions and energy consumption. Since 2019 the tool is fully operational and functional. We always said that this is the backbone of the Certification Regulation. HDVs CO2 standards (recently adopted again) are also there now based on VECTO! It took us a lot of time and energy but the final outcome makes me deeply proud of.

Having spent 11 years in DG CLIMA dealing always with CO2 emissions from HDVs, I feel that i delivered what i was hired for and this is the right time to look for another adventure in my professional career. I am so thankful for my time at DG CLIMA and especially grateful for the collaboration we had over the past years. Thank you for everything, we keep in touch!

A new milestone towards a European Green Deal: The Commission adopted a new proposal to further reduce CO₂ emissions in the EU. More specifically, the Commission plans tighter CO₂ emission targets for new heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) from 2030 onwards.

However, 2030 is not the endgame for this proposal. For almost all HDVs, the Commission is proposing a 45% emission reduction from 2030, 65% from 2035 and a whopping 90% from 2040, compared to 2019 levels. And there's more: to stimulate faster deployment of zero-emission buses in cities, the Commission is also proposing to make all new city buses zero-emission as of 2030.

But this proposal is not just about the reduction of emissions. In a domino effect, it will also have a positive impact on the energy transition, by lowering demand for imported fossil fuels and enhancing energy savings and efficiencies in the EU's transport sector.
It will provide benefits for European transport operators and users too, by reducing fuel costs and total cost of ownership, and ensuring a wider deployment of more energy-efficient vehicles. It will also improve air quality, notably in cities, and the health of Europeans.

EU Climate Law ADOPTED! EU decision-makers sealed early on Wednesday an agreement on the European Climate Law to set the bloc’s 2050 net zero objective into legislation, while maintaining the 2030 ‘net’ emissions reduction target of at least 55% below 1990 levels.

The European Parliament and the European Commission released this morning the first-ever Eurobarometer survey conducted jointly for the two institutions. 10 years anniversary within the European Commission .

Since 2010, I have been heavily involved in European Commission’s environmental policy to become more environmental friendly and to ensure the health and well-being of European citizens. As far as the climate change is concerned, the Commission is formulating and implementing policies and strategies and at the same time play a leading role in international climate negotiations. I had the honor of representing the European Commission in various countries and continents and I am proud of what we have achieved so far. Of course, there is still a lot to be done, but I am convinced that we will succeed. We keep on working hard...

Από το 2010 συμμετέχω ενεργά στην περιβαλλοντική πολιτική της ΕΕ ώστε να γίνει πιο φιλική προς το περιβάλλον και να διασφαλίζει την υγεία και την ευημερία των Ευρωπαίων πολιτών. Όσον αφορά την κλιματική αλλαγή, η ΕΕ διαμορφώνει και υλοποιεί πολιτικές και στρατηγικές, διαδραματίζοντας πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο στις διεθνείς διαπραγματεύσεις για το κλίμα. Είχα την τιμή να εκπροσωπήσω την ΕΕ σε διάφορες χώρες και ηπείρους και νιώθω περήφανος για αυτά που καταφέραμε μέχρι τώρα.
