We are Yannick, Dorianne, Elias and James, a family from Belgium preparing for a new chapter in the Arctic. In July 2026, we'll be moving to Guvåg, Vesterålen, Northern Norway, where we will build our dream: FamiLYS Arctic Getaway.

The adventure starts long before we arrive. We'll be travelling north in our 7-seater car, with a roof box packed full of essentials and our three cats joining us on this unforgettable journey.

Every day, our life disappears into another box.

What started as a dream is now becoming our reality, and honestly... it feels both exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

We still have plenty to do. Packing continues, and we're pretty sure the local recycling center knows us by name by now. 😂 We've lived in this village for 10 years, and we've never visited it this often!

As we sort through our belongings, one thing becomes crystal clear: we actually need far less than we thought. It's amazing how moving can make you rethink what truly matters.

Meanwhile, life doesn't slow down.

📚 Yannick's exam is coming up.
🎉 I'm busy planning James' birthday and farewell party with his friends.
✏️ Elias still has exams ahead of him.
🐱 And in the middle of all the chaos, one of our cats decided to jump into the travel carrier backpack all by himself. A small victory, but it made me so happy! One cat ready... only two more to convince. 😅

With every passing day, we're getting closer to leaving everything familiar behind and starting a completely new chapter in Arctic Norway.

The truth is, we don't know exactly what the journey will look like. There will probably be challenges, surprises, laughter, tears, and unforgettable memories. But that's what makes this adventure so special.

And that's exactly why we'd love for you to come along.

We’re moving our family from Belgium to the Arctic ❄️🇳🇴

No, this is not a holiday.

We’re packing up our life, moving to Northern Norway (Guvåg, near Lofoten), and starting a search for our future family cabin.

With kids. Of course.

It’s going to be chaotic. Beautiful. Scary. Real.

A few days ago, we showed you the outside of our temporary home in Arctic Norway.

Now it's time for a small sneak peek of what's waiting for us inside. 👀❤️

These rooms will soon be filled with moving boxes, family moments, laughter, and dreams for the future.

It's not our forever home, but it will be the place where our Arctic adventure truly begins.

In just a few weeks, we'll unlock the door and start writing a brand new chapter together.

We’re leaving Belgium and moving our family to Northern Norway. The countdown is on, and things are getting very real.

We are packing our life in Belgium and getting ready to move to Northern Norway with our kids. Excited, a bit overwhelmed, and fully stepping into an Arctic family adventure.

This little house… 🏡❤️

In just a few weeks, it'll be our home while we search for our forever place in Arctic Norway.

It's small, it's cozy, and somehow it already holds some very big dreams. ✨

It can't come soon enough... although our suitcases might disagree. 😂🧳

While one brother is working hard, the other one clearly understood the assignment… 😄

Our oldest, Elias, has officially become the “demolition manager” of the house taking apart furniture we won’t bring with us, making everything smaller and ready to go before our big move to the Arctic. Sweat, tools, and a lot of “Mom, where does this screw belong?” 🔨😂

Meanwhile, little James is living his best summer life splashing in the water, soaking up the sunshine, and reminding us all that not everyone in this family is stressed about emigrating 😎💦

Step by step, our Belgian life is slowly being packed away as we prepare for our huge adventure to the North. Exciting, emotional, chaotic… and sometimes honestly a little funny too.

One thing is certain: this journey is already creating memories we’ll never forget ❤️

Life update from our box-filled chaos 🫣📦
Right now our heads are spinning: planning, organizing, doubting, re-planning… all while still working full-time and packing our entire life into boxes. Our to-do list feels endless but honestly? It also feels incredibly exciting. This is the real beginning of FamiLYS 💙
We’re trying to be smart about every step, which brings us to a few big questions:
🚗 Driving to Norway with 3 cats
We really want to make the journey by car, but… which type of car is best for this? Any experiences or tips are very welcome!
🏠 Rent first, then decide
We want to start with a rental home to make sure the village, surroundings, and lifestyle truly feel like “us” before committing long term. Slow but steady.
🏫🛒 School & local shop nearby
These are absolute must-haves for our family (and for our future guests too 😉).
🏡 A centrally located cabin
Ideally right in the middle of everything, so we can easily organize activities and so Yannick doesn’t have to drive around all day 🙈
So yes… lots of questions, lots of dreams, lots of boxes… and a whole lot of excitement!
