Stories built on tension, revelations and unexpected turns.

1️⃣ Through the most refined prose shaped by form and rhythm, Montenegrin Free Kicks by Vladimir Vujović explores death, greed, identity and apocalypse.

2️⃣ Blending the absurdity of Daniil Kharms, the urban magic of Italo Calvino, and the grotesque minimalism of István Örkény and Sławomir Mrożek, Zentrifuge by North Macedonian writer Ivan Shopov portrays reality as something held together by shared illusions that could collapse at any moment.

3️⃣ In Lost Ground, Swedish author Frans Wachtmeister explores identity, regret, and love in a globalised world through a disillusioned European, adrift between Asia and Europe after losing both his girlfriend and his job.

Spotlight on EUPL shortlisted authors:

🇽🇰 Arben Idrizi who explores violence, trauma, and existential conditions of human life in the “The Man Who Wondered and Other Stories”. The Kosovan author builds a dark universe where violence shapes not just events, but thought, memory, and existence.

🇱🇮 Mathias Ospelt who takes a real kidnapping case from 1965, unravelling the hidden layers of Liechtenstein’s seemingly orderly, wealthy society in “Ebaholz, Liechtenstein”. Liechtensteiner author sow doubt, showing how little, we truly know about those around us.
