Rasheeda Haddish

I went to Oman for the first time in November 2012 for a day trip, but fell in love with the country before I even stepped foot in it. It was the breathtaking view of the Hajar Mountains from the plane on my way to Muscat for the first time that caught my heart’s attention. And once I arrived at Muscat International Airport, my love for the people of Oman blossomed, thanks to the immigration officers. Never in my life have I met such friendly immigration officers that were so happy to have people visit their country! The combination of the view of the Hajar Mountains along with the friendliness of the Omani immigration officers was the perfect preview to the beauty of Muscat and kindness of the Omani people that I would experience in my twelve hours in Muscat, and that would lead to my next trip to Oman the following year.
During my second trip to Oman in the spring of 2013, I spent a few weeks traveling Oman from the coastal cities to the interior regions learning as much as I possibly could about Oman and the Omani people. During my travels in Oman, I blogged about my experiences so that my family and friends could understand why I loved Oman so much and how Oman is a country worth visiting. Sure enough, my reasons for blogging about Oman worked because soon after I left Oman, my parents went to visit Oman and my friends that didn’t know where Oman was located geographically before they read my blog, were now interested in visiting Oman. My continued interest in Oman, the positive impact my blog has had on people’s perceptions about Oman, the amazing love, support and appreciation I get from Omanis are the reasons why I continue blogging about Oman. All my Omani experiences have made me feel as if a part of me is Omani and that’s why I call myself and my blog ‘Honorary Omani’ and I plan on being an ‘Honorary Omani’ for the rest of my life, because that’s how deep my love is for Oman and the Omani people.
I just want people to visit, explore and fall in love with Oman the way I have.
