Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv struck one of the greatest holy sites of Christianity and a UNESCO World Heritage site – the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.

A fire covering approximately 800 square meters broke out on the roof of the Dormition Cathedral after the attack. Emergency crews continue to work at the site.

The damage occurred during a massive Russian assault on Kyiv that killed at least four people and injured dozens more. The strike also caused a fire at a building of the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Cultural, Arts and Museum Complex, where flames spread across about 1,000 square meters.

Targeting the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is an unforgivable attack on Ukraine’s cultural and spiritual heritage and on a site of outstanding value to humanity. We expect a strong response from the international community.

💬 "We will be urgently initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO and all other international mechanisms, demanding immediate and adequate responses to this state barbarism.

We expect strong reactions by international institutions and capitals. No vague words, silence, or weak steps. We need action now to stop Russian barbarism," Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha has stressed.

🇺🇦🇪🇺 Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the unanimous approval by all 27 EU Member States of the European Union’s Position on Negotiation Cluster 1 for Ukraine at today’s COREPER meeting.

💬 “I am grateful to the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Commission, and all EU Member States for their leadership, unity, and continued support for Ukraine’s EU accession.

This decision recognizes Ukraine’s reform efforts and demonstrates the EU’s commitment to a credible and merit-based enlargement process.

We now look ahead to the Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg on June 15, where Cluster 1 is expected to be formally opened for Ukraine. We remain focused on delivering reforms and advancing the accession process at a steady pace.
Together, we are bringing the reunification of Europe closer and building a stronger, more secure, and more united European future”, the Minister stressed.

🇺🇦🇪🇺 Today all 27 EU Member States unanimously approved EU position on Cluster 1 at COREPER.

We are grateful to Cypriot Presidency, European Commission, and Member States for their strong support for Ukraine’s EU path.

Looking ahead to the Luxembourg IGC on 15 June to open Cluster 1.

🟡 3 червня Представництво України при ЄС взяло участь у заході «Lessons for a Brave World: How to Live, Work, and Create in Times of Uncertainty», організованому Goethe-Institut та програмою House of Europe у Європейському Парламенті, щодо ролі культури як чинника суспільної стійкості та підтримки українських культурних і креативних індустрій в умовах повномасштабної агресії РФ проти України.

📖 У рамках заходу відбулася презентація книги, яка об’єднала 32 історії про досвід життя, праці, творчості та відповідального лідерства в умовах безпрецедентних викликів війни.

Особливу цінність дискусії надала участь героїв видання, які прибули до Брюсселя та представили власний досвід роботи у сфері культури під час війни. Представники українських культурних і креативних індустрій поділилися практиками підтримки культурного життя громад, збереження та відновлення культурної спадщини, розвитку нових творчих проєктів і міжнародної співпраці попри щоденні виклики, спричинені російською агресією.

💬 У своєму виступі Представник України при ЄС посол Всеволод Ченцов наголосив:
«Сьогодні культура в Україні виконує значно ширшу місію, ніж збереження мистецьких традицій. Вона є одним із ключових елементів нашої стійкості, важливим інструментом захисту національної ідентичності та невід’ємною складовою боротьби за наше майбутнє. Попри повномасштабну війну РФ, українські митці, культурні менеджери та фахівці зі збереження спадщини продовжують творити, розвивати культурний простір і захищати те, що формує українську націю».

🇪🇺 Представник України при ЄС також відзначив вагому підтримку Європейського Союзу у зміцненні спроможності українського культурного сектору, відновленні культурної спадщини, а також розвитку міжнародних партнерств у сфері культури.

📌 З 2022 року Європейська Комісія спрямувала понад 50 млн євро на підтримку культурного сектору України. Одним із ключових інструментів такої підтримки стала програма Creative Europe, яка надала додаткові можливості для українських культурних та креативних індустрій, а також для фахівців, вимушено переміщених через російську агресію.

On 2 June, the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union participated in an important discussion at the European Parliament on the future of Temporary Protection for Ukrainians and the role of Ukrainian women in Europe’s economies and societies.

The event brought together representatives of EU institutions, Ukrainian authorities, and civil society for two panel discussions.

💬 The Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU Vsevolod Chentsov noted: "As Europe considers the next steps beyond temporary protection, maintaining a coordinated and sustainable approach remains essential. Looking ahead, Ukraine welcomes efforts aimed at ensuring a coordinated transition from temporary protection, including initiatives related to voluntary return and reintegration, as well as the development of the Unity Hubs network across Europe."

📌 The Ambassador also emphasized that protection for Ukrainians, especially women, children, and other vulnerable groups, must be further extended, as, unfortunately, Russia shows no willingness to end the war, instead intensifying its attacks and continuing the indiscriminate shelling of Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

On 4 June, Ukraine commemorates the memory of children whose lives were taken as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

For more than 12 years, Ukrainian children have suffered from Russian aggression. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, they have become targets of a systematic policy of terror, deportation, forced assimilation, militarisation, and the erasure of Ukrainian identity.

One of Russia’s gravest crimes remains the illegal deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children. Russia conceals information about their whereabouts, alters their personal data, imposes Russian citizenship, places children in Russian families and state institutions, and subjects them to ideological indoctrination, militarisation, and forced Russification.

Through the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, and in cooperation with state institutions, civil society, and international partners, Ukraine is building a comprehensive system for the identification, return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of children affected by Russian aggression.

An important instrument in these efforts is the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, co-chaired by Ukraine and Canada. It coordinates international efforts related to locating children, ensuring their safe return and reintegration, documenting crimes, strengthening sanctions pressure, and holding perpetrators accountable.

The MFA of Ukraine calls on the international community to intensify political, diplomatic, sanctions, and legal pressure on Russia.

We urge partners to strengthen support for the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. We also call on states and international organisations to maintain and strengthen sanctions against all individuals and entities involved in the illegal deportation, forced transfer, militarisation, indoctrination, and illegal adoption of Ukrainian children.

We remember every child whose life was taken by Russia.

We fight for every child whom Russia seeks to take away from Ukraine.

We will bring every Ukrainian child home.

On 3 June, Ambassador Vsevolod Chentsov, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, participated in the panel discussion “Integrating a Country at War: the Mutually Reinforcing Guarantees of Security and Democracy in Ukraine”, organized by TEPSA The Trans European Policy Studies Association and Carnegie Europe as part of the INVIGORATEU Academy on EU Enlargement.

💬 During the discussion, Ambassador Chentsov emphasized that EU enlargement is no longer merely a technical process but a strategic investment in Europe’s security, resilience, and future.

📌 A key message of his intervention was clear: Ukraine is not a security consumer — Ukraine is a security provider. While defending its sovereignty against Russia’s aggression, Ukraine is also defending European values and contributing directly to Europe’s security through its extensive experience in military defense, cyber security, protection of critical infrastructure, countering disinformation, and advancing defense technologies.

The Ambassador underscored that security and democracy are not competing priorities but mutually reinforcing ones. Despite the challenges of full-scale war, Ukraine continues to advance reforms and align with EU standards, demonstrating that the accession process remains a powerful driver of democratic transformation.

🇪🇺 Addressing the path toward membership, Ambassador Chentsov stressed that accession should be understood as a process rather than a single event. Ukraine’s integration into the EU should progress along three parallel tracks: accession negotiations, domestic reforms, and practical integration into EU policies, programs, and security structures.

He also highlighted that Ukraine’s recovery and EU accession are not separate agendas but one strategic project, with every reform strengthening recovery and every recovery effort bringing Ukraine closer to the European Union.

🤝 Concluding the discussion, Ambassador Chentsov noted that Ukraine’s accession is not only about Ukraine’s future. It is a strategic choice for Europe itself — a choice for greater security, democracy, resilience, and unity. The deeper Ukraine is integrated into Europe’s political, economic, and security structures today, the stronger Europe will be tomorrow.

On the night of June 2, Russia launched another large-scale attack against Ukraine.

In Kyiv, Russian attack killed four people and injured at least 58, including three children. The strikes damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure across several districts of the capital. A nine-storey residential building was hit, causing the partial collapse of its upper floors. Emergency services continue to search the rubble as people may still be trapped underneath.

In the Dnipro region, seven people were killed and 35 injured in Russian attacks on residential areas in Dnipro and Kamianske. Among them are 3 kids. During rescue operations following the initial strike, Russia launched a second attack that killed a rescuer. Search and rescue operations continue.

In the Kharkiv region, Russian attack injured at least 14 people, including a child. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged in several communities across the region.

In the Chernihiv region, a 15-year-old boy was injured. Among the damaged facilities are warehouses, a school and private homes.

Russia continues to wage war against civilians. More pressure on the aggressor, stronger sanctions, and more support for Ukraine's air defence are needed to save lives.

🇪🇺 On 27 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a productive and forward-looking meeting with Kaja Kallas on the margins of today’s informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers.

First, we focused on Ukraine’s path toward EU membership. Opening all negotiating clusters next month would be a strategic investment in a stronger and more secure Europe. Ukraine’s membership is about Europe’s security, strength, and geopolitical role in the new turbulent reality.

We also discussed the evolving battlefield dynamics and Ukraine’s growing initiative. As Russia fails to achieve its strategic goals, Europe must move faster and act more decisively.

This is the moment for Europe to turn its political and economic leverage into concrete decisions that strengthen our common security. The time has come to use this strength fully.

Particular attention was paid to increasing pressure on Russia through stronger sanctions, the use of frozen Russian assets, and further strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

Our joint assessment is clear: Russia will stop this war only when the cost of continuing aggression becomes unbearable.

І also stressed that Europe’s role in peace efforts is becoming increasingly important. A lasting peace cannot be built on hesitation, artificial compromises, or outdated ideas of spheres of influence.

This war has already changed all of us. Europe is becoming stronger, more resilient, and more aware of its geopolitical responsibility. Now is the time to use this strength to bring peace closer".

З 25 по 31 травня в Україні проходить Національний тиждень безбар’єрності, покликаний привернути увагу суспільства до необхідності створення доступного середовища, рівних можливостей для всіх громадян, розвитку безбар’єрних просторів, сервісів та інформації, а також утвердження культури поваги, гідності та людиноцентричної комунікації. Національний тиждень безбар’єрності відбувається в межах реалізації стратегії створення безбар’єрного простору в Україні та продовжує ініціативу Першої леді України Олени Зеленської “Без бар’єрів”.
Міністерство закордонних справ України підтверджує відданість нашої держави принципам безбар’єрності як невід’ємній складовій демократичного розвитку, європейської інтеграції, захисту прав людини та стійкого відновлення України. Йдеться не лише про фізичну доступність інфраструктури, а й про доступність державних послуг, інформації, освіти, праці, культури, цифрових сервісів, міжнародної взаємодії та повноцінної участі кожної людини в суспільному житті.
В умовах триваючої збройної агресії Російської Федерації ця тематика набула для України особливого значення. Війна створює додаткові бар’єри для мільйонів людей: ветеранів і ветеранок, людей з інвалідністю, людей старшого віку, батьків із дітьми, внутрішньо переміщених осіб, жителів громад, наближених до лінії фронту, осіб, які постраждали від мінної небезпеки, травм, втрати житла чи вимушеного переміщення. Українська дипломатія і надалі привертатиме увагу міжнародних партнерів до цих викликів та необхідності їх системного подолання.
МЗС України виходить із того, що відбудова України має бути не лише швидкою та ефективною, а передусім інклюзивною, доступною та людиноцентричною. Відновлення інфраструктури, державних сервісів, громад, освітніх, медичних, соціальних і культурних просторів має здійснюватися з урахуванням потреб різних груп людей та на основі принципів універсального дизайну, рівності можливостей і поваги до людської гідності.
Окреме значення має формування культури коректної, недискримінаційної та безбар’єрної мови. Міністерство закордонних справ України вітає затвердження стандарту державної мови “Термінологія безбар’єрності” – першого в Україні стандарту такого типу, який уніфікує недискримінаційну лексику та визначає перелік слів і висловів, що мають бути виведені з офіційного вжитку. Стандарт охоплює понад сотню термінів, що стосуються прав і можливостей людей з інвалідністю, ветеранів і ветеранок, батьків із дітьми та інших груп, які стикаються з упередженнями. Мова держави має бути мовою поваги.
Міністерство закордонних справ України послідовно інтегрує принципи доступності та інклюзивності у свою інституційну політику, консульську діяльність і міжнародну взаємодію. Для дипломатичної служби це означає доступність державних сервісів для громадян України за кордоном, розвиток цифрових і дистанційних форматів взаємодії, підвищення доступності закордонних дипломатичних установ, а також впровадження коректної комунікації у щоденній роботі української дипломатії.
Україна вдячна міжнародним партнерам, іноземним урядам, міжнародним організаціям, донорам, експертам і представникам громадянського суспільства, які підтримують нашу державу у розбудові доступного, інклюзивного та людиноцентричного простору. Така підтримка є особливо важливою в умовах, коли значна частина ресурсів України спрямована на захист держави від російської агресії.
МЗС України закликає міжнародних партнерів і надалі пріоритизувати безбар’єрність у програмах підтримки України, зокрема у сферах відновлення інфраструктури, реабілітації, соціальної згуртованості, цифрової доступності, освіти, охорони здоров’я, культури, транспорту, житла та державних сервісів. Безбар’єрна відбудова є не лише питанням комфорту чи технічних стандартів. Це питання прав людини, демократичної стійкості та справедливого майбутнього України.
У Національний тиждень безбар’єрності Україна підтверджує: сильна європейська держава – це держава, у якій кожна людина може реалізовувати свої права, отримувати послуги та інформацію, працювати, навчатися, подорожувати, брати участь у суспільному житті та бути почутою без перешкод, упереджень і дискримінації.
