🇬🇷🇪🇺 Greece at the forefront of efforts for a strong and competitive European shipping sector ⚓
📍 In Limassol, Greece’s Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, joined his counterparts from 🇨🇾 Cyprus, 🇲🇹 Malta and 🇮🇹 Italy in signing a Joint Declaration on the Protection of European shipping.
🤝 Four major Mediterranean maritime nations, representing a significant share of European and global shipping, are joining forces to coordinate their positions in the 🇪🇺 European Union and at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
🎯 The objective is clear: safe seas and a strong, modern and competitive European shipping sector, advancing the green transition while safeguarding the affordability of maritime transport.
Minister Kikilias stressed the direct link between the competitiveness of European shipping and citizens’ everyday lives: when maritime transport costs rise, the impact is felt across the economy — from consumer goods and food to energy and fuel.
