🇲🇹 Bi pjaċir nilqgħu lil Rebecca Iversen fir-Rappreżentanza Permanenti ta’ Malta għall-UE, li dan l-aħħar ingħaqdet mal-istaff tagħna.

💻 Rebecca ngħaqdet magħna fil-pożizzjoni ta’ Attaché għat-Telekomunikazzjoni u l-Affarijiet Diġitali.

🇪🇺 Qabel ma ngħaqdet mar-Rappreżentanza Permanenti, Rebecca ħadmet bħala trainee fil-Parlament Ewropew.

⚖️ Qabel ħadmet ukoll f’ditta legali f’Malta, fejn kisbet esperjenza f’oqsma li jinkludu l-protezzjoni tad-dejta u l-liġi tal-UE.

🇲🇹 We are happy to welcome Rebecca Iversen to the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU, who has recently joined our staff.

💻 Rebecca has taken up the position of Attaché for Telecommunications & Digital Affairs.

🇪🇺 Before joining the Permanent Representation, Rebecca worked as a trainee at the European Parliament .

⚖️ She also previously worked at a law firm in Malta, where she gained experience in areas including and EU .

📍On 10 September, President of the European Council António Costata visited Malta as part of his ‘Tour des Capitales’.

🇲🇹 He was greeted by Prime Minister Robert Abela, and European and Foreign Affairs Minister Chris Fearne.

🇪🇺 The visit took place as part of President Costa tour of EU's capitals and holding meeting with EU Heads of Government to discuss the Union’s agenda, and the upcoming EU 💰

🤝 During the meeting, Prime Minister Abela assured President Costa that Malta is engaging constructively with the ongoing budget negotiations, while recognising the need for further investment in , and .

📍 🇲🇹 Malta’s Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo called for innovative technological solutions to be accessible to all farmers, particularly small-scale producers.

He was speaking to counterparts during the Informal Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting held on 8 September in Dublin, Ireland.

🌾 At the meeting, Ministers discussed the challenges facing the EU’s livestock and protein sectors, focusing in particular on how research and innovation can make these sectors more sustainable, resilient and competitive.

The Minister underlined how research and innovation are particularly important for addressing the specific challenges faced by Malta’s sectors, such as limited land availability, climate pressures, high import dependency, rising production costs, and water scarcity.

👨‍🌾 Minister Refalo also underlined that EU solutions must also provide adequate financial support, knowledge transfer and practical tools are needed to facilitate the uptake of new technologies.

🌱 The Minister also underlined that research and innovation should strengthen the economic viability, environmental sustainability and social resilience of the agricultural sector – something that cannot be done without taking into account the different realities of farming systems across different EU Member States.

⚖️ Finally, he also stressed that EU measures should not create additional burdens for farmers, while helping to reduce food security and the strengthen the viability of local farms.
