✅ From family dairy to rooftop solar, green investment is powering SME growth across the Western Balkans!

✅ Through the SME Go Green Programme, supported by the 🇪🇺 EU through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), the programme combines European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) financing with EU-funded advisory support and grant incentives, helping SMEs invest in green technologies, improve efficiency and strengthen their competitiveness.

✅ Two 🇷🇸 Serbian businesses show what this support can mean in practice:

✅ Milk House is combining traditional dairy production with solar energy and modern equipment, growing from a small family business near Niš to a company processing around 100,000 litres of milk a day.

✅ Tira, a producer of nuts, grains and nut butters, has installed a rooftop solar power plant, helping reduce energy costs and its carbon footprint while supporting its competitiveness in EU markets.

✅ Green technologies. Practical investments. More competitive businesses.

➡️ Connecting People, Businesses and Markets!
✅ Construction of the Skopje - Blace motorway is getting underway, supported by a €30.8 million EU investment grant and €8.8 million in technical assistance, channelled through the WBIF, alongside a €167.6 million European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan.
➡️ The 10.5 kilometre section from Stenkovec to the Blace border crossing is a key link in the wider Skopje - Pristina route and the extended Trans-European Transport Network.
🤝 Better connections mean shorter journeys, stronger regional links and new opportunities for people and businesses.

➡️ Turning 🇪🇺 EU support into real results in 🇲🇰 North Macedonia!
✅ During her visit to North Macedonia on 8 July, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos met with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski to discuss the country’s EU accession path, progress under the Reform Agenda and priorities for gradual integration into the EU.
✅ The visit also showcased how EU support is translating into concrete investments that improve people’s everyday lives.
✅ In Skopje, Commissioner Kos visited a student dormitory refurbished with EU funding through the Western Balkans Investment Framework under the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme , implemented by KfW.
✅ The upgraded dormitory will provide modern, energy-efficient accommodation for more than 1,000 students.
✅ The project is expected to reduce energy consumption by more than 40% and cut approximately 2,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.
➡️ Launched in 2013 under the Western Balkans Investment Framework, the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme (REEP) supports renewable energy and energy efficiency investments across the region. With over €1 billion mobilised to date, it has refurbished more than 90 public buildings, supported 1,500 SMEs and 20,000 households. The achieved annual CO₂ emissions saved is equivalent to removing 183,000+ cars from the roads.

✅"When children enter a renovated school, it’s not just warmer - it’s healthier"
👉 Stefan Koh , an environmental expert at the German Development Bank KfW, speaks to Nedeljnik about how the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme ( ) is transforming schools, student dormitories and district heating systems across the Western Balkans.
✅ "Warmer classrooms, cleaner air and greater energy security. In Serbia, is supporting the energy renovation of 35 public buildings and the development of biomass-based district heating in several municipalities. The next wave is already being prepared: projects in Prijepolje, an expansion in Novi Pazar, as well as solar energy and heat pumps for the Belgrade district heating plants Dunav and Cerak. Regional experience shows that renovated buildings can use up to 50% less energy, allowing municipalities to redirect these savings towards other important priorities that benefit citizens"
