Construction of Road, Bridge, Culvert, Drain, Public Toilet, Slaughter House and Kitchen Market proposed to build under UTMIDP Project. During the year of 1971, the population in the urban area was about 55 Lacs but it surged rapidly within the next 50 Years into existence. In 2011, the population stands about 48 Million. In 2020, it was a massive increase from 2011 with 64 Million people living i
n urban areas. Due to the colossal surge in the population, river erosions, lack of employment opportunities in rural areas became inevitable among other factors. With the rise in population, it has become increasingly difficult to serve basic needs to people from urban areas and provide ample facilities to meet their fundamental needs. To work around this issue and to mitigate, the government of Bangladesh has transformed urban areas to upazila level to provide civic facilities to the population. There are 492 upazilas in Bangladesh, where 188 upazilas are Non-Municipal. Under the UTMIDP project of LGED, it has been proposed to build drains, culverts, roads, kitchen markets, public toilets. Also, UTMIDP, LGED project aims to facilitate the preparation of Master plan (Land Use Plan, Drainage and Environmental Management Plan, Transportation, Traffic Management Plan & Utility Services Plan)
