Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi organized a curtain raiser event for the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, at Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 2nd June 2026.

Two Hon’ble Members of Parliament; Mr. Abu Sayeed Chand (MP Rajshahi-6 Constituency) and Mr. Shofiqul Haque Milon (MP Rajshahi-3 Constituency) participated in the event as the Chief Guests. Several other senior dignitaries also attended the programme, including the Mayor (Administrator) of Rajshahi City Corporation Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, and the Deputy Police Commissioner of Rajshahi.

Assistant High Commissioner, Shri Manoj Kumar, emphasized on the importance of Yoga in the current fast paced world, and the deep connection between India and Bangladesh in the fields of Ayurveda and traditional medicine.

Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi organized 2nd Run-up Programme to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 at Govt. Technical School & College, Panchagarh on 16th May, 2026. The event was presided over by Shri Manoj Kumar, Assistant High Commissioner of India in Rajshahi. Mr. Farhad Hossain Azad, Hon’ble Minister of State for Water Resources, Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest at the event. Mr. Mohammad Touhidul Islam, Administrator, Zila Parishad, Panchagarh; Mr. Anjan Kumar Sarkar, Acting CEO, Zila Parishad, Panchagarh; Mrs. Sifat-e-Rabban, Acting SP, Panchagarh also attended the program. People from various walks of life, including several yoga enthusiasts also participated in the program. Hon’ble Minister & AHC highlighted the importance of yoga and urged people to make yoga a part of their daily life for a better and healthy lifestyle. Shri Manoj Kumar, Assistant High Commissioner also mentioned that Yoga and Ayurveda are valuable gifts from India to the humankind. He also focused on the India’s co-operation for the welfare, peace and mutual progress of both countries.

77th Foundation day of ICCR was organised in the premises of AHCI, Rajshahi in a vibrant environment on 9th April 2026 having Mr. Md. Mahafujur Rahman Riton, Hon’ble Mayor (Administrator), Rajshahi City Corporation as the Chief Guest & Bir Muktijoddha Adv. Md. Ershad Ali Isha, Hon’ble Chairman (Administrator), Zila Parishad, Rajshahi as the Guest of Honour. To name some prominent figures among the ICCR alumni, present in the programme were; Dr. Chitta Rajan Mishra (VC, Pundra University of Science & Technology Bogura. Bangladesh), Prof. Dr. Ananda Kumar Saha (Former VC, Varendra University Rajshahi & Former ProVC, Rajshahi University), Mrs. Shaila Tasmeen (Associate Professor, Department of Music, University Rajshahi), Prof. Somnath Bhattacharjee (Retired Professor, Department of Physics, University of Rajshahi), Dr. Podminee Dey (Professor, Department of Music, University of Rajshahi), Prof. Asit Roy (Professor, Department of Music, University of Rajshahi), Prof Mr. Alamgir Parvez Sumon (Associate Professor, Department of Music, University of Rajshahi), Prof. Shafiqunnabee Samadi (Professor, Department of Bangla, University of Rajshahi) who shared their experience and significant contribution of ICCR for academic and cultural connect between the two countries. Performing artists among the ICCR alumni captivated the audience with spectacular cultural performances. In his opening remarks, Shri Manoj Kumar, Assistant High Commissioner underscored the pivotal role of ICCR in promoting cultural and academic exchange, fostering deeper understanding and connections among people across the world. He also highlighted its special significance for Bangladesh, given the shared culture, traditions and deep-rooted people-to-people ties that continue to strengthen mutual understanding and societal development.
