BCCP, in collaboration with UN Women Bangladesh, has been empowering disaster and climate-vulnerable women in the most disaster-prone regions of the country. Through a series of Courtyard Meetings in Khulna and Satkhira, we’ve raised awareness on gender equality, women’s rights, and climate change adaptation.

Our focus has been to educate the local community, especially women, girls, and gender-diverse groups, on securing equal access to a sustainable environment and reducing their climate vulnerability.

BCCP recently conducted a two-day training workshop across 10 upazilas in Bangladesh, including Chilmari, Kurigram Sadar, Dewanganj, Islampur, Koyra, Dacope, Shyamnagar, Kaliganj, Chakaria, and Teknaf. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of local-level government officials from various ministries to effectively implement the Bangladesh Climate Change and Gender Action Plan (CCGAP).

The training focused on equipping officials with the skills and knowledge to integrate gender equality into climate change adaptation strategies at the local level. With regions like Koyra, Dacope facing severe climate-related challenges such as flooding and cyclones, the workshop emphasized the importance of inclusive, gender-sensitive climate resilience.

A key focus was ensuring women’s active participation in climate resilience strategies, as women, particularly in rural areas, are often the most affected by climate change but are frequently excluded from decision-making processes. By promoting gender equity in adaptation plans, BCCP aims to foster stronger, more resilient communities across Bangladesh.

🚀 GAPACC Dissemination Workshop: A Resounding Success! 🌍

We’re excited to announce the successful completion of the GAPACC Dissemination Workshop on 23 December 2025 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Dhaka, under the UN Women EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Project, Phase II.

This workshop brought together key policymakers, government officials, and stakeholders from ministries like MoEFCC, MoDMR, MoWR, MoFL, MoWCA, MoA, and LGD to finalize the Gender Action Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (GAPACC). With valuable input from district-level government officials and validation workshops, the GAPACC now reflects real-world challenges and gender-responsive solutions to climate change.

Key outcomes include:
✅ Finalized GAPACC shared with actionable recommendations
✅ Strengthened ownership and collaboration for implementation
✅ Clear steps for gender-sensitive climate adaptation across sectors

The Dissemination Workshop on the Gender Action Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (GAPACC) will be held tomorrow, 23 December 2025, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), Dhaka, under the UN Women EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Project.

Earlier this year, a series of consultation workshops were conducted with key government ministries — MoEFCC, MoDMR, MoWR, MoFL, MoWCA, MoA, and LGD — followed by two rounds of validation workshops, including one validation session with each ministry. These consultations actively engaged district-level government officials from the respective ministries, ensuring that the GAPACC reflects ground realities, sectoral priorities, and gender-responsive climate adaptation needs.

The dissemination workshop will share the finalized GAPACC, highlight key recommendations, and strengthen collective ownership among policymakers and stakeholders for effective implementation.

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that all of our validation workshops with government officials have been successfully completed! These essential discussions have not only helped us finalize the Gender Action Plans for Adaptation to Climate Change (GAPACC) but also ensured that the plans are costed and come with a robust monitoring framework. This will make them even more practical and impactful in building a resilient and inclusive future for all.

Our journey doesn't end here! On December 23rd, we will be organizing our Final Dissemination Workshop, where we will present the outcomes and next steps. All of our stakeholders will be present, including representatives from the responsible ministries.

To address the impacts of climate change and natural disasters, UN Women Bangladesh has been focusing on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction, particularly supporting women from the country’s most disaster-vulnerable areas. This initiative aims to demonstrate how gender inequality amplifies vulnerability and marginalization, while highlighting how achieving gender equality can lead to a more resilient and empowered Bangladesh.

In line with this, BCCP has developed an interactive dialogue video as part of its communication strategy. This video tackles various issues, with a special focus on the effects of climate change on the lives and livelihoods of women and adolescent girls, and presents different strategies to overcome these challenges. The objective of the video is to raise awareness about how climate change and natural disasters affect women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals. It explores the causes, impacts, and consequences of climate change, particularly its devastating effects on the lives and livelihoods of women and adolescent girls.

UN Women Bangladesh has been actively involved in Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction, focusing on supporting women from disaster and climate-vulnerable areas of the country. This project primarily aims to create evidence showing how gender inequality contributes to vulnerability and marginalization, while also exploring how achieving gender equality can strengthen resilience and empower Bangladesh.

As part of its communication efforts, BCCP has produced a video on CCGAP (Climate Change Gender Action Plan) for the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. The key objective of the video is to raise awareness and promote CCGAP, alongside the action plans of these ministries for its implementation. The video covers the following key topics:
