With immense joy, celebration, heartfelt blessings, and the embrace of cherished memories, the annual excursion program of the Chittagong University BNCC Army Wing, titled “Aranya Abhijatra” (Journey Through the Wilderness) – 2026, came to a beautiful conclusion.

On Friday, 15 May 2026, the Chittagong University BNCC Army Wing successfully organised its Annual Outing Program – 2026, which was aptly named Aranya Abhijatra. The tour, arranged from the University of Chittagong to Rangamati, was led by B Company Commander of 11 BNCC Battalion, 2/Lt. Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain, BNCCO.

The cadets departed from the university at 8:00 in the morning and reached Rangamati by 10:00 AM. Sailing upon the tranquil blue waters of Kaptai Lake, the largest man-made lake in Bangladesh, the cadets explored the breathtaking landscapes and observed the unique lifestyle and culture of the hill communities. Among the places visited were the Indigenous Market, Nirban Buddhist Temple, Choto Jhorna, Shuvolong Waterfall, Shuvolong Market, Tong Ghor, the Hanging Bridge, and Polwel Park. Throughout the journey, the boats echoed with songs, laughter, and the boundless spirit of companionship. At the conclusion of the tour, prizes were awarded to cadets for their participation and performances in various activities.

The annual excursion program, “Aranya Abhijatra,” offered the cadets a profound understanding of the diverse cultural and demographic beauty of the country. The Chittagong University BNCC Army Wing hopes that the vibrant memories of this journey will continue to inspire the cadets and strengthen their spirit of unity, resilience, and teamwork in the face of future challenges.

The BNCC Army Wing, University of Chittagong, pays profound tribute to Shaheed Cadet Farhad's immortal memory and calls upon all to pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul on his '55th martyrdon Anniversary '.(Bilingual)

Shaheed Cadet Farhad Ullah Md. Azharul Islam was a postgraduate (M.A.) student of the Department of History at the University of Chittagong. He was a distinguished alumnus of the University Officers’ Training Corps (UOTC) and a resolute, courageous cadet of the now Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), Army Wing, University of Chittagong.

At the outbreak of the Liberation War of 1971, under the leadership of the then Vice-Chancellor Dr. A. R. Mallick and UOTC Officer of University of Chittagong Major (Prof.) Dr. Enam-ul-Haq, Cadet Farhad took a leading role in establishing the first defensive resistance at Alaol Hall of the University of Chittagong. He remained actively engaged in organizing and sustaining the resistance camp at Alaol Hall until 31 March.

On 1 April, Cadet Farhad departed the campus and joined the war effort under the command of then Major Ziaur Rahman. Subsequently, after coordinating with eminent freedom fighters including then Major Shawkat, Major Rafiq, and Captain Oli Ahmed, he was assigned the responsibility of organizing resistance operations in the Cox’s Bazar sector and proceeded accordingly. At that time, Pakistani occupation forces had not yet reached Cox’s Bazar; however, his team encountered armed opposition from local pro-Pakistani collaborators. Under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Police Station, these collaborators engaged Farhad’s team in direct armed conflict.

During the engagement, while evacuating a wounded comrade to a safe position, Cadet Farhad was captured along with his team by enemy collaborators. They were subjected to brutal and inhumane torture. On 5 May, upon the arrival of Pakistani forces in Cox’s Bazar, the collaborators handed over Cadet Farhad and his team to the Pakistani military. The enemy forces lined them up on the sandbank of Khurushkul Canal and opened indiscriminate fire. Feigning death, Farhad fell to the ground alongside his comrades. While others were martyred, he survived, albeit with a severe gunshot wound on the right side of his body.

Assuming all were dead, the enemy buried the bodies under sand along the canal bank. Displaying extraordinary resilience, Cadet Farhad extricated himself from the mass grave and crossed the canal, taking shelter at a local residence. On advice, he moved to a nearby mosque, where he spent the night in prayer and repentance. At dawn, a local collaborator informed the Pakistani camp of his survival.

Even within the sanctity of the mosque, he found no refuge. The enemy forces, aided by collaborators, forcibly dragged him out, violating the sacred premises, and took him to the bank of the Bakkhali River. There, he was executed by successive gunfire, attaining martyrdom. Following his ex*****on, the Pakistani forces and their collaborators celebrated in brutal triumph and disposed of his body by casting it into the Bakkhali River, which ultimately carried it to the Bay of Bengal.

Today marks the 55th martyrdom anniversary of Martyr Cadet Farhad Ullah, son of Md. Ezharul Islam, who laid down his life selflessly for the motherland. On this solemn occasion, the BNCC Army Wing, University of Chittagong, pays profound tribute to his immortal memory and calls upon all to pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul.

Martyr Cadet Farhad stands as an enduring symbol of honour, valour, and patriotism for all cadets of the BNCC Army Wing, University of Chittagong—an eternal beacon of inspiration. In every hour of national need and crisis, the present generation of cadets remains steadfastly prepared to emulate his supreme sacrifice and dedicate themselves wholly to the service of the nation.
