Introduction
Abu Jafar Shamsudin and Ayesha Akhtar Khatoon Memorial Trust was founded on 31 March 2006 by a registered trust deed executed by nine children of Abu Jafar Shamsuddin and Ayesha Akhtar Khatoon to serve the poor and the needy in the spirit of humanism and humility. The motto of the trust is; Humanism is the Basis of Sustainable Holistic Development. The vision of the Trust is to promot
e education and culture and the welfare of the society in general irrespective of belief, ethnicity, class, gender and age. The major mission of the Trust are the following:
• Promote formal and non-formal education
• Promote advancement of fine, liberal and performing arts, particularly in the field of journalism and literature
• Provide scholarship and other forms of assistance to underprivileged students and scholars
• Build and support libraries
• Provide health/medical services/facilities/assistance to the poor
• Provide livelihood and other forms of support for poverty reduction
Current programs/activities
• Scholarship and lump-sum grants to poor students at different levels
• Educational materials to students
• Library
• Lump-sum grants to distressed women
• Lump-sum grants towards medical expenses
• Health camp: general, eye, dental, gynecological
• Repair of houses damaged in cyclones/tornadoes
• Others, as and when required

• To expand the scope of the above activities
• To establish an Old People's Home or Care Home for Elderly
• To establish a Home cm Rehabilitation Centre for the mentally disadvantaged and drug addicted
• To establish a Research Center for Rural Studies
