বাংলাদেশে সব দলের অংশ গ্রহণে একটি অবাধ, স্বচ্ছ, সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন হবে এবং গণতন্ত্র অটুট থাকবে বলে আশা প্রকাশ করেছেন ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত ড্যান ডব্লিউ মজিনা। বুধবার নারায়ণগঞ্জের খানপুর এলাকায় কুমুদিনী ওয়েল ফেয়ার ট্রাস্ট অব বেঙ্গল পরিদর্শনকালে এসে তিনি বলেন, বর্তমান রাজনীতি সংকটময় না করে আলোচনার মাধ্যমে সুষ্ঠু ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন দেয়া উচিত। সুষ্ঠু ও অবাধ নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশে গণতন্ত্র অটুট থাকবে বলে আশা করে আমেরিকা।
