On 13 August 2025, the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) convened a dissemination seminar on the BEPRC-funded project โ๐๐ญ๐ถ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐๐ช๐ญ (๐๐๐๐): ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ช๐ญ ๐ง๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ข๐ด๐ต๐ฆ-๐๐ญ๐ถ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐บ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ช๐ฒ๐ถ๐ฆ๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏโ at the BEPRC Conference Room.

The Principal Investigator, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐. ๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐๐ค๐ฎ๐ณ๐ณ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), delivered a visually compelling presentation featuring detailed infographics outlining the projectโs objectives, implementation progress, and research outcomes. Running from April 2022 to October 2025 with a budget of BDT 2.07 crore, the project has successfully developed an innovative hydrothermal liquefaction process to convert f***l sludge into bio-crude oil with a 54% yield. The research demonstrates the potential to produce gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, with an estimated commercial capacity of 1,000โ2,000 barrels per day using only 25% of the countryโs sludgeโtranslating into an annual revenue potential of BDT 2,000โ4,000 croreโwhile contributing to sustainable waste-to-energy solutions in Bangladesh.
During the open discussion, the Honourable Chief Guest, Special Guest, and other distinguished participants engaged in an in-depth exchange with the projectโs Principal Investigator, exploring pathways for real-world application, viable business models, and the scalability of the technology.
The seminar generated notable enthusiasm and curiosity among attendees, reflecting strong stakeholder interest in the projectโs commercial viability and environmental benefits. The Chairman (Senior Secretary), BEPRC, along with other dignitaries, expressed satisfaction with the projectโs progress, research achievements, and forward-looking implementation plan.
