In the age of the biologically mechanized world, Bangladesh is still a developing country. As a hardworking nation, the country is in the phase where it is on all limbs for development. Due to its ample labor force, Bangladesh is industrializing at a rapid rate. As any other developed country that came out of the darkness of being a developing country, Bangladesh is cladding itself with industrial

ization. Bangladesh was born in the year of 1971, after a bloody and gruesome nine months of fighting, being decapitated, raped and tortured. A hardworking and a diligent nation, Bangladeshis have not only proven to be brave and patriotic but a hardworking nation striving to make a better country, a better Bangladesh. Along with the wind of change that brought industrialization, improvement in the health care sector has been ostensible in this region. A delta in category, Bangladesh is poised with a lot of diseases which still exist, due to insufficient improvement in the healthcare system. Communicable disease is still a common problem here with poverty and population density. The condition, though unwanted, gives a wide spectrum of choice for students to work and enhance their experience and skills on community health, reproductive health, and run researches on health issues and medical education system. Bangladesh Medical Student’ Society is an arena where all the medical students of Bangladesh will work as ‘ONE’ and help to make this great country free from the deadly diseases that poses Bangladesh, and the world at large. The medical students of Bangladesh, has been working together to make a better, safer future for the nation, fulfilling their duties as a member of the healthcare system. They have been engaged in various activities starting from blood donation to vaccination to awareness programs. BMSS believes in building individual leadership amongst medical students, who will transform the problems into solutions. The healthcare deficiencies not only threaten Bangladesh, but most of the world. As much as we want to make and build a better Bangladesh, what we want more is to build a better world. To make the world a safer and a better place comes under the motto of BMSS ‘Famulus Clementia’ meaning ‘serving humanity’.

[BMSS Celebrated World No To***co Day]

World No To***co Day, observed annually on May 31st, is a vital global movement dedicated to breaking the cycle of to***co's widespread damage and driving healthier futures. Throughout this journey, BMSS has stepped up both nationally and internationally, leading impactful to***co control initiatives across multiple sectors. They hold a unique place as the only medical students' association in Bangladesh actively dedicated to fighting against to***co.

​Their key achievements include taking their mission to the global stage which includes participating in the World Conference on To***co Control and presenting their work directly to the Director General of the WHO. Nationally, they have driven policy research, launched community awareness campaigns and established programs across medical colleges to provide public health education and patient counseling. In Loving Memory of Dr. Dhipra Tabassum

​With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Bangladesh Medical Students' Society (BMSS) mourns the tragic and untimely demise of one of our most brilliant former leaders, Dr. Dhipra Tabassum.
​Dr. Dhipra served with immense dedication as our revered former SCORP National Officer (NORP) for the 2016-17 term. Her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on our BMSS family.

​We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, batchmates, and everyone whose life she touched. We pray to the Almighty to grant her the highest place in Jannah and to give her loved ones the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss.
​Rest in peace, Dr. Dhipra. You will forever remain in our prayers and hearts.

[Research Roots: From Basics to Breakthrough | Event Highlights]

From 9th May to 23rd May 2026, the Rajshahi Medical College Local Committee of the Bangladesh Medical Students’ Society (BMSS) has successfully organized a six-day hybrid workshop titled “Research Roots: From Basics to Breakthrough”. The program aimed to develop a research mindset and strengthen critical scientific reasoning among medical students through a structured learning approach.
The workshop consisted of six progressive sessions designed to gradually build participants’ understanding and practical skills in medical research. They were comprised of —

Offline Sessions:
• Session 1 — Introduction to Research and How to Avoid Plagiarism:
Participants gained a foundational understanding of medical research, its importance in clinical practice, and the significance of maintaining academic integrity by avoiding plagiarism in scientific work.

• Session 2 — Literature Review, Study Design and Basics of Biostatistics:
Participants learned the fundamentals of literature review, different study designs, and basic concepts of biostatistics essential for conducting evidence-based research.

• Session 3 — Sampling Types, Data Collection, Protocol Writing, IRB Approval and Groundbreaking Research on Rheumatology:
This session provided practical insights into sampling techniques, data collection methods, protocol writing, ethical approval procedures, and highlighted important research developments in rheumatology.

Online Sessions:
•Session 4 — Decoding Medical Evidence: Mastering Essentials of Critical Appraisal:
Participants developed skills in critically analyzing and interpreting medical literature to evaluate the quality and reliability of scientific evidence.
•Session 5 — Preparing a Research Proposal: A Hands-on Training in Literature Search, Scientific Writing & Referencing:
This session focused on proposal preparation, effective literature searching, scientific writing techniques, and proper referencing methods for academic research.
•Session 6 — Research Career Pathway: Understanding through Study Design and Data Collection Method:
Participants gained insights into research career pathways, long-term academic opportunities, and practical guidance through shared professional experiences.

Throughout all the sessions, participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and active engagement. The workshop successfully created an interactive learning environment where students not only gained theoretical knowledge but also developed practical research thinking skills. The overall response from participants was highly encouraging, reflecting strong interest and growing motivation toward research activities among medical students.

Event Highlights – [Public Health Begins with Clean Qurbani Eid]

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha 2026, Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Local Committee (SMAMC-LC), under SCOPH, BMSS-Bangladesh, successfully organized the campaign “Public Health Begins with Clean Qurbani Eid” on 27 May 2026. The campaign was implemented across Dhaka,Gazipur,Munshiganj, Madaripur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Barishal, Patuakhali, and Noakhali through the dedicated efforts of our Local Officers and volunteers. The initiative focused on promoting safe and hygienic Qurbani practices, raising public health awareness during Eid-ul-Adha, encouraging proper waste management and environmental cleanliness, preventing diseases associated with the improper disposal of animal waste, and educating communities on maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment throughout the festive season.

As part of the campaign, volunteers conducted community awareness sessions, distributed educational leaflets, engaged directly with the public on various public health issues, and facilitated discussions on safe Qurbani practices. The activities were documented through photographs and community interactions to highlight the campaign’s impact. Through direct engagement and awareness-building efforts, the campaign encouraged individuals to adopt healthier and more responsible Qurbani practices, contributing to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Eid celebration for all.
