A Historic Moment in Valletta:✨️
H.E. Mr. Robert Abela has been sworn in as Prime Minister for a historic third term during a stately ceremony at the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta.
On Monday, the newly re-elected Labour leader took the oath of office and allegiance, administered by the Honorable President, H.E. Ms. Myriam Spiteri Debono. Sharing in this momentous occasion were his wife, Lydia, and their daughter, Giorgia Mae.

Malta plans to build a 24-kilometre metro rail line linking St Paul’s Bay to the airport, Transport Minister Chris Bonett announced recently.

The new rail line will be the "backbone" of Malta’s redesigned transport network, dubbed 'Malta in Motion', which promises to integrate several forms of transport, including buses, ferries and cycle routes across a single network. ❤️ 🇲🇹

Today 9th May Bangladesh celebrated Europe Day 2026 with elegance and impact, spotlighting a flourishing partnership. With the Republic of Malta’s pavilion stealing the show and Finance Minister Mr. Amir Khasru Mahmud as Guest of Honor, the event was a masterclass in diplomacy.
Under the leadership of Ambassador Michael Miller, this high-profile gathering united cabinet members, diplomats, media professionals and industry leaders. It wasn't just a celebration,it was a powerful reaffirmation of the enduring bond between the European Union and Bangladesh. 🇧🇩 🇲🇹 🇪🇺

Visit Malta: Summer in Malta is not only about weather. The events calendar is a major part of the season, and several 2026 listings are already live on VisitMalta.

One of the biggest headline events is Isle of MTV Malta 2026, listed for 22 July 2026, with VisitMalta stating that Katy Perry is set to headline.

Another major summer event is the Farsons Beer Festival, listed on VisitMalta from 23 July 2026 to 2 August 2026 at Ta’ Qali National Park.

For travellers who prefer a more relaxed harbour atmosphere, the Valletta Waterfront Summer Festival is also listed on VisitMalta as a music, food, and harbourside summer event.

Summer also overlaps with Malta’s long-running village feast season. VisitMalta’s cultural calendar states that, with few exceptions, villages across Malta and Gozo come alive with week-long feasts between May and September, while its festa feature describes late May to early September as the core period for summer village feasts.

One of the most important August dates is Santa Marija, the Feast of the Assumption, which VisitMalta lists for 15 August 2026.

Recently The Government of Malta has formally bestowed a Special Recognition upon Mr Shoeb Chowdhury, Honorary Consul of Malta in Bangladesh, in appreciation of his distinguished service to bilateral diplomacy.

The certificate of recognition was presented by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, H.E. Mr Ian Borg, during an official ceremony. The event was also attended by the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Mr Christopher Cutajar.

Besides, Hon.Consul Chowdhury was received in a courtesy audience by the President of the Republic of Malta at the historic Grand Master's Palace in Valleta.

The President of the European Parliament, Ms. Roberta Metsola, has announced that the legislature has invited Pope Leo XIV to address an upcoming plenary session. She stated that Pope Leo XIV serves not only as the spiritual leader of the global Roman Catholic community but also as a symbol of moral courage and clarity during a time when such a compass is increasingly essential.
