Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet explores deeper agricultural cooperation during call on Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid

Dhaka, 17 August 2026 – Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet called on the Honorable Mohammad Aminur Rashid, Minister of Agriculture of Bangladesh, to discuss deepening agricultural cooperation, particularly in seed technology, agricultural research, food safety and nutrition, climate‑resilient agriculture, and building sustainable agricultural value chains.

Discussions highlighted potential cooperation in rice and potato, as well as fruits, such as mango, alongside post‑harvest processing and quality control. Minister Rashid also shared Bangladesh’s plans to develop the Black Bengal goat industry, and expressed strong interest in technical cooperation including support for Hilsa fish conservation.

Both sides noted the importance of food security, youth and women’s participation in agriculture, and sustainable, climate‑resilient practices, and agreed to work together to facilitate technical exchanges as a meaningful contribution to the celebration of the 55th anniversary of Philippines–Bangladesh relations next year. Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet inducts new officers of Philippine-Bangladesh Association (PBA)

Dhaka, 16 August 2026 – On 16 August 2026, Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet officiated the oath-taking ceremony of the newly- elected officers of the Philippine-Bangladesh Association (PBA), a Filipino community organization in Bangladesh, at the Chancery.

Ambassador Cainglet congratulated the officers, led by President Rebecca J. Mizzanur, and recognized PBA’s valuable partnership with the Embassy over the years. Ambassador Cainglet shared that she truly believes that “PBA is the epitome of the enduring friendship between the Filipino and Bangladeshi peoples – a friendship grounded on close family ties, shared aspirations, and mutual respect and understanding developed among our communities.”

Ms. Mizzanur, in her remarks, assured her commitment to providing assistance to fellow Filipinos in Bangladesh, and also thanked the Embassy, as she looked forward to more joint projects in the future. She also thanked her fellow officers and PBA members for their trust in her leadership.

The program concluded with a dinner that featured Filipino delicacy pancit bihon (stir-fried rice vermicelli) and traditional kakanin (native rice delicacies), such as p**o and biko. END

Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet discusses stronger cooperation with UN Women Bangladesh on Women, Peace and Security

Dhaka, 04 August 2026 – Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet welcomed Representative Gitanjali Singh of UN Women Bangladesh at the Chancery to discuss closer cooperation on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), prevention of gender-based violence, and women’s leadership in politics, peacekeeping, and the workplace. Ms. Singh was joined by Ms. Tania Sharmin and Ms. Sharbana Datta.

Ms. Singh presented UN Women’s work on Bangladesh’s WPS agenda, legal reforms on sexual harassment and discriminatory laws, and initiatives to address online and campus-based violence against women and girls. Ambassador Cainglet shared the Philippines’ experience with gender and development (GAD) programs, including mandatory gender-responsive training and budget allocations in government, as well as efforts to engage Filipino communities and families in gender discussions.

Both sides agreed to explore knowledge-sharing and learning exchanges between Bangladesh and the Philippines, particularly on WPS implementation, safe spaces legislation, and gender-responsive governance. END

Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet congratulates the Philippine Archery Team at the World Archery Asia (WAA) President’s Challenge Cup and Joint Training Programme

Dhaka, 02 August 2026 – Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet welcomed the Philippine Archery Team at the 2026 World Archery Asia (WAA) President's Challenge Cup and Joint Training Programme held at the Archery Training Academy in Tongi, Gazipur.

Seventeen nations participated in the recurve individual and mixed team events in the tournament, which was held under the supervision of World Archery Asia President and newly elected Bangladesh Archery Federation President Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol.

Representing the Philippines were Coach Lady Prea Marcelino and athletes Mr. Lester Ian Datiles, Mr. General Marc Bangoy, Mr. Adrian Barroga, and Ms. Alexis Angela Philippe Laranjo.

The Philippine team delivered an impressive performance, with Ms. Laranjo winning the gold medal in the Under-18 Mixed Team category and Mr. Bangoy earning the silver medal in the individual Recurve Men category.

Ambassador Cainglet congratulated all the Filipino athletes for their outstanding performance, dedication, and sportsmanship. She commended them for bringing pride and honor to the Philippines through their achievements and reaffirmed the Philippine Embassy's support for Filipino athletes competing on the international stage.

Also present at the event was a representative of Liwayway Food Bangladesh Ltd., a Philippine company operating in Bangladesh, and presented the athletes with Oishi Oozies, one of Liwayway’s flagship snack products in Bangladesh. END

Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet calls on BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun to discuss stronger cooperation in investments and skills development

Dhaka, 02 August 2026 – Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet paid a courtesy call on Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) to discuss ways to deepen economic cooperation as the two countries look ahead to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Both sides explored opportunities in trade and investment, including food processing, agri-business, and logistics, as well as skills development and education. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Philippines and Bangladesh to promote sustainable growth, food security, and human capital development through closer and more meaningful bilateral cooperation.
