Support to the Bangladesh Civil Service is a core building block of UNDP’s Democratic Governance portfolio through the Civil Service Change Management Programme (CSCMP) and lies at the heart of UNDP’s mandate to support a gender sensitive workplace, and promote gender mainstreaming within the Bangladesh Civil Service. In this context, the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Women Network was establishe

d in October 2010 with the support of UNDP as an umbrella organization to look after the welfare of all female officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service. It is essentially a formal, non-political forum, focusing on identifying common problems faced by female officers in their working environment, their causes and provides possible solutions. The Network also aims to provide policy recommendations to the Government and to undertake interventions to ensure gender equality in the Civil Service. In addition, it has envisioned building the capacity of female civil servants in Bangladesh, at par with international best practices.
