In the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026, the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), India in Bangladesh (High Commission of India, Dhaka) in collaboration with the Joysan Yoga Institute, organized a special pre-event program on May 17, 2026, at Joysan Yoga, Banani. The session offered participants valuable insights into the profound role of yoga in nurturing holistic well-being and inner balance.

In celebration of the upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY-2026), the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), India in Bangladesh (High Commission of India, Dhaka) organized two pre-event programs on May 13, 2026. Held in collaboration with Notre Dame College, Dhaka in its campus, and the Art of Living – Happiness Program at the Canadian University of Bangladesh, the events highlighted the vital role of yoga and mindfulness in fostering holistic well-being.

IGCC, India in Bangladesh (High Commission of India, Dhaka) launched the countdown to with a Curtain Raiser event at the High Commission of India on May 6, 2026. Speaking at the occasion, High Commissioner Pranay Verma said that yoga reminds us that true wellness is balance, wisdom is clarity, and inner peace is the foundation of world peace.

The program included unveiling of the official IDY 2026 merchandise, and Common Yoga Protocol led by Art of Living Bangladesh. Marico Bangladesh Ltd, IFAD group and Ashok Leyland Ltd were the sponsors for the event.

IGCC, India in Bangladesh (High Commission of India, Dhaka) and Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh organized ‘Nabo Anando Jaago: The Legacy Of Thakurbari’ on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti on 7 May 2026.

Inaugurating the event, High Commissioner Pranay Verma said, “Rabindranath Tagore is an eternal cultural bridge between India and Bangladesh. As the author of the national anthems of both our countries, Gurudev Tagore’s legacy epitomizes the strong cultural and emotional heritage that binds our nations together.”

The immersive cultural evening brought to life Gurudev’s legacy through Rabindra Sangeet and dramatization of iconic female members of his family and characters from his literary works. The event celebrated the shared cultural heritage and enduring bond between India and Bangladesh through Tagore’s universal vision of humanity, art & social progress.
