Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is one of the ancient and specialized units of Bangladesh Police. It is the apex body of investigation of Bangladesh Police as well as Bangladesh government. Investigation of scheduled cases suggested by laws and cases instructed from courts is the basic function of CID. CID also undertakes the investigation of specialized crimes that require tec
hnical expertise. Apart from investigation there are some special functions too, through which CID assists other organs of the Bangladesh government through providing expert opinion in various cases. Scheduled Offenses for CID Investigation
1. Murder for gain;
2. Human trafficking;
3. Kidnapping for ransom;
4. Terrorist activities and terrorist financing;
5. Transnational organized crimes;
6. Implantation or removal of different parts to or from the human body;
7. Adulteration in consumable goods;
8. cybercrime;

11. Smuggling;
12. Drugging or poisoning;
13. Infringement of intellectual property rights;
14. Infringement of copy rights;
15. Counterfeiting of coin or stamps, forging Government currency or promissory notes and uttering or being in possession of the same;

17. Highway, railway or mail robbery;
18. Deed forgery;
19. Bank frauds;
20. Swindling;
21. Insurance frauds of serious nature;
22. Cheat by bogus appointment and

Organized crime:-
Organized crime is a specialized part of CID whose main focus is to act against structured crimes. There are several units/squad in organized crime. Those are-
1. Homicide squad
2. Economic crime
3. Cyber crime
4. Trafficking of Human Being (THB)
5. Bomb and explosive
6. Serious crime
General information
Criminal investigation department is the apex investigating unit of Bangladesh police having many exemplary successes. At present Sheikh Hemayet Hossain, PPM, Additional IGP is the head of this unit. Under his command CID branch offices are working in almost every district in Bangladesh. Quality investigation, precise scientific analysis and viable intelligence collection is the key to our success.
