𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱!
As part of the 14th Terra World Congress, to be held in Al Ain in April 2027, the 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 has been organised by CRAterre with the support of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. After receiving 𝟳𝟯 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟮𝟳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, the jury has selected 𝟳 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 that demonstrate how earthen materials can strengthen the relationship between the environment, culture and territory.

Exactly that's why at Perceive we practice building with hand (not machine) and natural materials (not glass or concrete), and of course energy and cost saving!!

Read below what the UN-HABITAT thinks about it:

"There’s a peculiar kind of ignorance in modern architecture.

We build glass boxes that trap heat like a greenhouse (and are incredibly cold in winter!)… then congratulate ourselves for installing ever more powerful air conditioning to survive inside them.

Meanwhile, traditional buildings in India quietly solved this problem centuries ago.

Take the chhatri - those elegant domed pavilions perched atop palaces and forts. They provide beautiful, elegant architecture, that's for sure, but they’re also thermal devices.

By shading the roof, ventilating hot air, and creating pressure differentials, chhatris act as passive cooling systems: no electricity, no refrigerants, no hum of compressors. Just geometry, air, and an understanding of climate.

In other words: intelligence embedded in form, not machinery.

Modern construction often replaces this embedded intelligence with brute force:
- More glass
- More concrete
- More energy

We’ve traded design that cooperates with nature for technology that fights it.

So we shouldn't be so surprised when cities overheat and energy demand skyrockets.

In trying to look “advanced,” we’ve become thermodynamically illiterate.

Perhaps sustainability isn’t about adding more systems.

Rather it’s about rediscovering why older buildings needed fewer in the first place.

Munda Homestead
Rema Tea Garden, Chunarughat, Habiganj
Munda peoplr are one of the eight major ethnic groups (including Tipra, Santal, Urang, Kharia, Kurmi, Goala, and Bunargi) near the tea garden, with some families residing in small, isolated villages inside or adjacent to the forest. Historically, they were brought to the region for clearing forests. Currently, their livelihoods depend on, but are not strictly limited to, forest resource collection (such as medicinal plants) and working in the tea estates.
Their beautiful earthen homes, arranged around a courtyard and often decorated by colorful clay collected from nearby mound or chora(hilly canal). The brown or yellow earth is found mostly from mound and the white clay is from the chora. The black clay is mostly collected from Pabna, and the blue or green houses are painted by mixing pigment with white clay.
Originally, the roof is made of chon, but now a days corrugated iron sheets are popular.
The plinth, low height boundary wall and guard rail along steps are always adorned by black and white triangular patterns. The same pattern can be found on the wall and Tulshi mancha.

Thank you Institute of Architects Bangladesh for believing in us and giving the opportunity to share so much love for the environment friendly, traditional earthen and bamboo houses of Bangladesh. These structures are time tasted, harness local resources, empower communities and build bond for a life time.
We are honored and privileged to be part of this amazing gathering!!
