Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s STIRC project organized a 2-day long Refreshers' training on “Inspection, Sampling and Microbiological Testing” from 10-11th December 2025 in Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka. 12 Food Safety Officers, 01 nine grade Officers from BFSA Headquarter, 13 Sample Collection Assistants participated in this training program. The main objective of this training was to initiate Microbiological testing (Aerobic Plate count using 3M petrifilm and Swab Test using Hygiene Detection Kits) for microbiological risk analysis in SMEs level food establishments. Food Safety experts of JICA-STIRC project conducted different practical sessions including Inspection, Sampling, Hygiene detection in the food establishment, sterilization, Autoclave, Aerobic Plate Count (APC) testing of food samples, and on-spot data inputs in IT applications with real-time report generation. This system will help Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) to create an evidence-based inspection and monitoring framework tailored to the risk levels of food establishments, enabling them to improve their hygiene under proper guidance. BFSA member Dr. Mohammad Mostafa was present as Chief Guest in the opening ceremony of this training program , Special guest Professor Dr. Shakila Nargis Khan, Chairman, Department of MIcrobiology , DU and it was presided by BFSA Secretary and Project Director Ms. Srabasti Roy ,National Team Leader Md. Masud Alam and national consultants of JICA-STIRC team were present in the program.
