রক কর্তৃপক্ষ হিসেবে কাজ করে। এই শিক্ষা বোর্ড ১৯৬২ সালে বাংলাদেশের কুমিল্লা জেলায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। কুমিল্লা কান্দিরপাড়ের লাকসাম রোডে এর বর্তমান দাপ্তরিক ভবন অবস্থিত। বোর্ডের অর্ডিন্যান্স অনুসারে এটি মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চমাধ্যমিক পর্যায়ের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহের তদারকি, মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চমাধ্যমিক স্তরের পাবলিক পরীক্ষাসমূহ পরিচালনা ও উন্নয়নের জন্য ক্ষমতাপ্রাপ্ত; যা পূর্ব পাকিস্তান মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চমাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা অর্ডিন্যান্স ১৯৬১ (East Pakistan Ordinance No. # # of 1961) ও এর ১৯৬২ খ্রিস্টাব্দের ষোড়শ এবং ১৯৭৭ খ্রিস্টাব্দের সপ্তদশ সংশোধনী দ্বারা দ্বায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত।
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla is an autonomous organization, mainly responsible for holding two public examinations (SSC & HSC) and for providing recognition to the newly established non-govt. educational institution and also for the supervision, control and developments of those institutions. According to the ordinance of the board, The East Pakistan Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance, 1961 (East Pakistan Ordinance No. # # of 1961) and its amendments No. XVII of 1977, it is responsible for the organization, regulation, supervision, control and development of Intermediate and Secondary level public examinations and educational institutions.
