🇱🇹🇦🇿 Lithuania at Baku Energy Week 2026

Lithuania was present at Baku Energy Week - a business mission organized by the Transport Innovation Association (TIA) brought together leading Lithuanian transport, logistics and innovation companies – Bunasta, TPC and InTour. We are proud to see Lithuanian business sharing our experiences in logistics and transport sectors 🇱🇹✨🚍

At the TransLogistica Caspian Forum, Julius Skačkauskas, Manager at the Transport Innovation Association, advocated for the creation of a single digital permit and a single-window system for document processing across the corridor. He also highlighted the potential contribution of the 🇪🇺 Global Gateway initiative to the further development of transport connectivity between Europe and Central Asia.

During Forum discussions Jurgis Adomavičius, Chairman of the Board of the Transport Innovation Association and Founder & CEO of Bunasta, highlighted the importance of digitalization and integrated tracking systems for improving efficiency along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. He emphasized that harmonized procedures and digital solutions are essential for reducing costs, improving predictability and strengthening supply chain resilience. In media interviews, Mr. Adomavičius also underlined the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor amid geopolitical shifts and stressed the need for diversified transport routes connecting Asia and Europe.

During the visit, the delegation was welcomed at Lietuvos ambasada Azerbaidžane / Embassy of Lithuania in Azerbaijan by Ambassador Kęstutis Vaškelevičius, where discussions focused on strengthening economic ties and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.

We sincerely thank Lamiya Khalilova and the Association of Azerbaijan Customs Representation for their great support and assistance throughout the mission🙏

Looking forward to further expanding partnerships and foster cooperation between our two countries 🇱🇹🤝🇦🇿

The latest issue of „Caspian Energy“ magazine features an interview with Lithuania's Minister of Economy and Innovation, Edvinas Grikšas. Minister presents Lithuania's vision for strengthening economic resilience through three key priorities: innovation, investment, and modern institutions. He emphasizes importance of closer cooperation between science and business, attracting high-tech investment, supporting startup ecosystems, and accelerating digital transformation.

This timely interview, coinciding with Baku Energy Week 2026, reflects a growing momentum in Lithuania–Azerbaijan relations and the opportunities to build more partnerships between our countries across numerous „future oriented“ sectors.

Addressing the role of innovation in the green transition which is also at the core of Azerbaijan economy, E. Grikšas notes that Lithuania supports renewable energy projects, including solar and wind installations, while encouraging investments in energy efficiency and energy storage solutions. "These measures increase resilience to price fluctuations and support long-term competitiveness," he explains, highlighting how innovation and sustainability go hand in hand in strengthening economic growth.

While Baku Energy Week 2026 is bringing together high level delegations and experts from many countries to discuss the future of energy, logistics, and connectivity, the prestigious Caspian Energy magazine has just published an interview with Prime Minister of Lithuania, Inga Ruginienė.

The interview highlights growing partnership between our two countries and the significant potential to expand cooperation in energy, digitalization, transport, logistics, and other strategic sectors.

As Prime Minister Ruginienė puts it, “Azerbaijan plays an important role in connecting Europe with Central Asia, while Lithuania offers access to the Baltic region and the wider European Union market. We see clear potential in linking our regions more closely through logistics corridors, including stronger integration between the Caspian region and the Baltic Sea.” In a world of shifting supply chains and geopolitical uncertainty, this creates a natural foundation for pragmatic and forward-looking cooperation.

Perhaps most importantly, Prime Minister sends a strong message about the future of Lithuania–Azerbaijan relations: “Lithuania sees Azerbaijan as a reliable and important partner, and we are ready to build a relationship that is practical, respectful, and oriented toward long-term results.”

This week, Baku is hosting Baku Energy Week 2026, one of the region’s leading platforms for energy dialogue, alongside the TransLogistica Caspian, Caspian Oil & Gas, and Caspian Power exhibitions and forums.

Lithuania is proud to be part of these important conversations, exchanging experiences on the future of energy and logistics, and sharing Lithuania’s success story.

Lithuania is now recognised for one of the fastest renewable electricity transformations in the EU.

This is more than a green transition. It is a story of resilience, security, and strategic vision.

Read more in the "Euronews" article below.

☀️ A new Euronews article highlights Lithuania’s rapid shift from energy dependence to energy resilience - powered by solar, wind and a clear national ambition.

⚡ In just five years, renewable electricity grew from 15% to 50% of Lithuania’s domestic consumption. Solar capacity increased from 225 MW to 3,284 MW, while wind power grew from 623 MW to 2,535 MW. In April, solar and wind covered 84% of Lithuania’s electricity demand.

🇱🇹 By producing more clean energy at home, Lithuania is reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, strengthening resilience and showing how a crisis can become an opportunity.

As Euronews notes, Lithuania is now being recognised for one of the fastest renewable electricity transformations in the EU - with the ambition to cover domestic electricity consumption with 100% renewable power by 2028 and move towards becoming a net exporter of clean electricity.

This is more than a green transition. It is a security story.

This week, our diplomat Kristina is participating together with colleagues from around the world in the annual conference of Lithuanian diplomats and commercial attachés working in the field of economic diplomacy.

This year’s conference focuses on strengthening Lithuania's industrial competitiveness, enhancing economic resilience, and fostering the development of a high value-added economy.

The programme has offered an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand insight into Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem and industrial potential.

Among the highlights:
🔹 Giraitė Armaments Factory - leading solutions in the defence industry
🔹 KTU Kauno technologijos universitetas/Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) – Lithuania’s first quantum computer, biotechnology innovations, and a very warm reunion with our valued KTU partners, who have already visited Baku several times. We hope to welcome them and other leading Lithuanian science institutions to AZ again to present study opportunities to talented Azerbaijani youth.
🔹 Traditional B2G meeting session with Lithuania’s food industry – opportunity to discover new products and bring more diverse Lithuanian food products to Azerbaijan, where they are already well known and appreciated.
🔹 Visit to the rapidly growing industrial hub of Panevėžys – a city rich not only in smart engineering companies such as UAB Harju Elekter and PKC Group Lithuania, but also in culture. Stasys Museum is truly world-class!

The conference strengthens our commitment to further introduce Azerbaijan to Lithuania’s cutting-edge innovations and smart technologies, paving the way for more productive economic partnerships 🇱🇹🤝🇦🇿

Lithuania condemned the recent Russia’s terror attacks against Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv.

Lithuanian MFA delivered a protest note to Russian Embassy. Užsienio reikalų ministerija emphasized that nuclear capable missiles and other projectiles targeting Ukrainian civilians must not be treated as business as usual.

Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda said that “Russia’s latest massive strike on Kyiv once again shows that terror against civilians remains a core instrument of the Kremlin’s war. Hundreds of drones and missiles launched overnight against residential areas, schools and civilian infrastructure only further expose Russia’s brutality and disregard for human life.”

Russia will be held accountable. And we will continue supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes- said President Nausėda.
