Yungaburra State School Yungaburra SS is a Prep to Year 6 school located in the heart of the picturesque Atherton Tablelands Currently, the school caters for 200 plus students.

Yungaburra State School is a Prep to Year 6 primary school located in the heart of the picturesque Atherton Tablelands. The school, which is over one hundred years old, boasts a proud tradition of providing an excellent education to children from across the region. Our students are drawn from the historic village of Yungaburra, small acreage properties and extensive farms, including, amongst others, dairy and sugar cane farms located in the Yungaburra, Atherton and Malanda areas. Yungaburra State School boasts a beautiful oval with an athletics track and soccer field where students can enjoy their health and physical education (HPE) lessons and their play time. A large undercover hall also provides an ideal covered venue for wet weather days. Our school hall is available for community hire. Please contact us for enquiries and bookings. The Yungaburra State School tuckshop, “The Tukkaburra” is recognised for both its healthy and appetising menu and also for being one of Queensland’s best tuckshops. The Tukkaburra operates Wednesday to Friday.

The 5/6 classes walked into the Yungaburra Township last week for their HASS (Economics and Business) excursion. Students explored what businesses are available to locals and considered goods, services and resources needed. Students spoke to local businesses owners and gathered lots of important information. A big thank you to all parent volunteers who helped make this excursion possible.

What a wonderful day our Prep/1 and Year 1/2 students had exploring the Historic Village in Herberton! 🏫✨

The children loved stepping back in time and discovering what life was like in the past. The old schoolroom was an especially big hit—they had lots of fun imagining what it would have been like to attend school there many years ago!

A fantastic day filled with excitement, curiosity and hands-on learning. 💛

Lockdown Drill – Practising to Keep Our School Safe

Today, Yungaburra State School conducted a lockdown drill as part of our regular emergency preparedness procedures.

Students and staff did a fantastic job following instructions calmly, quietly and safely. These drills give everyone an opportunity to practise what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency and help ensure our procedures are familiar and understood.

A big thank you to our students and staff for approaching the drill so sensibly. 💙

Last Thursday the Year 2/3 class headed out on foot for their excursion. They walked through the village, along Petersen's Creek and met Katie from the Art Garage at Frawley's Pool. Katie led the students in a sketching and soft oil pastel activity. Turtles, lizards and bird life were spotted and a few reported seeing a glimpse of a platypus! The students thoroughly enjoyed being out in nature and learning some art skills.
