Volunteering is what keeps toy libraries going and we are on the hunt for some more committee members 💕

Every borrowed toy, every organised shelf, every family welcomed through the door and every toy library session opened is made possible by volunteers.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the people behind the toy libraries across Australia. The 11,800+ volunteers who give their time, energy and care so children and families can access places to play, connect and belong in their community.

This year’s theme, “Your year to volunteer”, is a reminder that volunteering can create connection, confidence, friendships and a real sense of belonging, not just for families visiting toy libraries, but for the volunteers themselves. Whether it’s meeting other parents, giving back to the community, building skills or being part of something meaningful, volunteering at a toy library can make a real difference for everyone involved.

To every toy library volunteer, thank you for everything you do for your community.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter with their family and friends.

The Toy Library will be closed over the Easter and school holiday period and will reopen on Sunday 12th April from 2-3:30.

Toy shops can be exciting for kids, but they can also be full of “no, not today” moments. It is hard to give children freedom to choose when every choice comes with a price tag.

Toy libraries make choosing joyful again. When everything is borrowable, children can explore, pick what interests them and feel confident making decisions. They get to follow their curiosity without pressure, and parents do not have to worry about cost or clutter.

Letting kids choose builds confidence, independence and a sense of ownership over their play. It also helps you learn what they truly enjoy, not just what looks fun on the shelf.

If you want to give your child more yes moments, visit your local toy library and let them explore a whole world of play.
