Yesterday, almost 100 CFS cadets and cadet leaders from across Region 1 came together for some learnings and some fun.

Around half the cadets headed to the CFS State Training Centre (STC) at Brukunga, to learn about what the training centre does - the facilities, equipment and staff, and going hands on with some of the equipment, including hydraulic Road Crash Rescue (RCR) tools, learning about fire indicator panels (FIP) & hydrant boosters and the 'boom' box - a training aid to demonstrate flammability limits and what can happen when you introduce air to a fire.

The other half (which included our Cadets) of the group headed to 'Adelaide Fire' - the MFS call receipt & dispatch centre, to learn about what happens from when an emergency call is received, and how it to gets to a CFS brigade. They were able to put through their own jobs in a training environment as well!

That was the morning complete.

Cadets then travelled to The Beachouse at Glenelg for lunch and two hours of activities there.

Each cadet & cadet leader were given a special CFS cadet beanie to commemorate the occasion!

Cadet Training - 02/03 - Early arrival required!

For our cadet session on Monday 2nd March we have arranged an excursion-type exercise, it is going to be a fantastic night, please enquire within for further details if your child is participating in the program and attending.

In order to fit all planned activities into the night we ask that all cadets be at the Yankalilla Station around 6pm on the night for an early departure. We aim to be back by 8.30pm as normal.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN YOUR CHILDREN IN AND OUT, this is a CFS Policy requirement that is NOT optional.

Please also remind cadets that they will need to come in once signed in, put on their PPC and find a seat in the meeting room immediately on training nights so that training can start on time.

Southern Fleurieu Group are recruiting CADETS!!

If you're aged between 11 and 17 and looking for an exciting new activity that will teach you all the skills to becoming a firefighter, contact our Group Cadet Coordinator Hannah on 0477 766 975 TODAY!

We’re looking for youth who are keen to:
🙋 Make lifelong friends and be part of a team
💡 Learn new and valuable skills that will also help in day-to-day life
🎓 Earn points towards SACE
🏆 Help their local community

We meet fortnightly on a Monday evening, we are at Yankalilla CFS THIS MONDAY 16th Feb, from 1845hrs until 2030hrs.

Southern Fleurieu Group is a large area from Cape Jervis, through to Myponga, around Inman Valley and up through Parawa. Get in touch if you live around these areas for your local Brigade information!

⚠️TRAINING 2nd FEBRUARY IS CANCELLED

With crews from across the Region (including many of our Cadet Leaders) responding to the bushfire at Deep Creek, we have made the decision to CANCEL the first session of Cadets this term. The next Cadet night will be Monday, 16th February, 6.45pm.

The leadership team and I extend our apologies for the late notice.
