Congratulations to crew member Mark on reaching five years of dedicated service with the unit. Since joining in early 2021, Mark has become a highly valued member of the team. Unit Commander John recently presented him with his five-year service pin. Here’s to many more years supporting the local boating community. Exciting news from Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba! 🛥️🛟🎙️

We’ve officially taken possession of our brand-new facility in Yamba and the fit-out is already underway. This new space will feature a purpose-built radio room, training, administration and storage areas, setting us up to better support our life saving work on local waterways.

Once complete, the facility will operate alongside our Iluka base, strengthening our ability to respond and serve the local community.

We’ll soon be recruiting new volunteer members to train as radio operators – a vital role that assists in coordinating rescues, monitoring communications, tracking vessels and broadcasting important safety information.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved and making a real difference, share your details via our EOI form and we’ll be in touch. https://www.marinerescuensw.com.au/become-a-volunteer/apply-to-become-a-volunteer/expressions-of-interest (please select Iluka Yamba as your preferred unit)

Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba is truly grateful for the continued generosity of our local community. Your support helps keep our crews on the water and our radio operators in the tower, always ready to respond when it matters most.
Running a Marine Rescue NSW unit involves significant ongoing costs, from fuel and routine maintenance to unexpected emergency repairs. Community contributions play a vital role in ensuring we can operate safely, effectively, and around the clock.
A heartfelt thank you to Sedgers Reef Hotel, Iluka, for their recent generous donation from the proceeds of their Australia Day celebration. Your support makes a real and meaningful difference to our operations. Thank you for helping us stay rescue ready.

Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba is a community-based volunteer organisation committed to saving lives on local waterways. To do this, our rescue vessels are maintained to the highest standard.

Our primary vessel, IY 30, is a vital emergency response asset, but keeping it rescue-ready comes at a significant cost. In addition to regular servicing, unexpected repairs can and do arise, including a recent unscheduled and costly repair.

As a volunteer service, we rely on the generous support of our community to help meet these ongoing maintenance costs. Community donations play a critical role in keeping our vessels operational and ensuring we are ready to respond when lives are at risk.
