πŸš’ Thank You, Lismore Lions Club! πŸš’

Wyrallah Rural Fire Brigade would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Lismore Lions Club for their generous donation, which has enabled us to purchase a new firefighting blower.

This equipment will be a valuable addition to our brigade, assisting our crews during firefighting operations by helping clear fire breaks, remove leaves and debris, and support hazard reduction activities.

As a volunteer brigade, the support we receive from community organisations such as the Lions Club makes a real difference. Their contribution helps ensure our firefighters have the tools they need to protect lives, property, and the environment.

Thank you for your continued support of our brigade and the wider community. πŸ‘πŸ”₯πŸš’

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Busy day on the trucks for Wyrallah crews on the 23rd. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Wyrallah 7 were deployed to assist with back burning operations at Busbys Flat, working alongside other crews to help strengthen containment lines.

While they were away, Wyrallah 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Woodburn Coraki Road, Coraki just before 1pm.

As Wyrallah 7 made their way back to station, they were redirected straight into another call, responding to a second motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Wyrallah Road and River Bank Road, Monaltrie shortly after 4pm.

The day didn’t slow down there, with crews then further tasked to a vehicle fire in Coraki.

A solid effort by all members involved, covering multiple incidents across the Richmond Valley and Lismore areas.

Busy day for Wyrallah crews across multiple incidents πŸ”₯πŸš’

On Sunday 19 April, Wyrallah crews responded to a series of fires across the Richmond Valley and Lismore areas.

πŸ•§ Wyrallah 7 left station at 12:30pm
πŸ• Wyrallah 1 left station at 1:00pm

Wyrallah 7 was initially tasked to Elliott’s Road, Myrtle Creek, before being diverted to a large, fast-moving grass fire on Avenue Road. Arriving first on scene, crews quickly deployed cap sprays and hose lines to knock down the fire along the roadside, preventing spread to nearby properties. Work then continued blacking out the fire edge, with Wyrallah 1 arriving to provide additional water support.

Following containment, Wyrallah 7 was redirected back to Elliott’s Road, where crews worked the eastern flank. Firefighters were deployed on foot using blowers, rakehoes and knapsacks to establish containment lines, before assisting a dozer in constructing a control line to halt further spread.

At the same time, Wyrallah 1 was deployed to a large bush fire at Tabbimobile, assisting operations alongside aerial firefighting resources, as seen in the attached photos.

Later in the evening, Wyrallah 1 was responded from Tabbimobile to a fire at Monaltrie, however nearby crews from Alphadale and Boat Harbour arrived first and contained the situation, allowing Wyrallah to stand down.

πŸ•– Wyrallah 1 returned to station around 7:00pm
πŸ•˜ Wyrallah 7 returned to station around 9:00pm

A solid effort from all crews involved across a long and demanding day.

πŸ”₯ Wyrallah RFS Incident Update – 16 & 17 April πŸ”₯

Over the past two days, Wyrallah crews responded to multiple fire incidents across the Richmond Valley and Lismore areas.

πŸ“ 16 April – Myrtle Creek
Wyrallah 7 responded to a bush fire on Elliots Road, Myrtle Creek.
Our crew was tasked with patrolling the fireground and investigating potential control lines to assist with containment efforts.

πŸ“ 17 April – South Gundurimba / Myrtle Creek
Wyrallah 7 was first on scene to a grass fire near Bruxner Highway and Pelican Creek Road, South Gundurimba. Crews acted quickly to extinguish the fire before handing the incident over to Caniaba 1.

Following this, Wyrallah was redirected back to Myrtle Creek, where crews worked to extinguish the majority of the active edge along the western flank of the fire.

Attached is some photos of our Viking Firefighter, Bradley Morrison, fighting the active edge with a Knapsack. Large areas of the fire were extinguished by hand with tools and knapsacks due to the lack of access via firetruck.

Great work by all crews involved across both incidents, with quick action helping to limit fire spread and protect surrounding areas.

πŸ”₯ FIRECALL - WIRES DOWN πŸ”₯

Wyrallah 1 and 7 responded this evening to reports of wires down and arcing on Jefferies Street, Coraki.

Crews attended and made the scene safe until the relevant authorities could take over. Incidents involving fallen powerlines can be extremely dangerous, particularly in low light conditions.

Please remember:
β€’ Stay well clear of any fallen wires
β€’ Never assume a line is safe
β€’ Call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency

Thanks to all crews involved for their response.
