What an AMAZING Teddy Bears’ Picnic we had today!

There were smiling faces everywhere as we danced, played games, showed off our teddies in the Teddy Bear Parade and, of course, enjoyed a delicious picnic together!

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful families who joined us today - and especially to our beautiful 2027 Kindergarten children! It was so exciting to welcome you to Valley View and see you beginning to feel at home at big school.

Thank you to our fantastic school leaders who joined in the fun, and to the wonderful Bec and her canteen helpers for preparing some delicious picnic treats.

A very special thank you to our current Kindergarten teachers and students, who did such a wonderful job welcoming our newest little Valley View friends and helping make the morning so much fun.

We also loved having the teachers and students from Narara Valley High School join us for the morning. Thank you for being part of such a special day!

We hope our future Kindy students went home with big smiles, happy memories and even more excitement about starting school. Mrs Anderson’s Teddy did go home feeling very tired after such a big morning at school! 🧸✨

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate an incredible achievement by one of our Year 6 students, Carissa, who has recently been awarded a Silver Award in the 2026 NSW WriteOn Competition!

The annual WriteOn competition, run by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), is open to students in Years 1–6 from across NSW. Students are challenged to create an imaginative text of up to 500 words in response to a given stimulus, with the opportunity to have their work recognised and published.

This year’s stimulus was: “It was a small thing, but it made a difference.”

Carissa responded with a beautiful and thoughtful poem exploring how the smallest elements of music and song can make the biggest difference.

And what an achievement it is!

This year, 1027 entries were submitted from across NSW, with just 55 students selected as winners across Stages 1, 2 and 3. Carissa was one of those 55 outstanding young writers - an incredible accomplishment and a wonderful recognition of her talent as a writer.

Carissa’s achievement was celebrated at a special WriteOn Awards Ceremony at the NSW State Library last week, where she was presented with her Silver Award.
But it gets even more exciting… Carissa is now a published author!

Her winning poem has been selected for publication in The Best of WriteOn anthology for 2026 - a very special achievement that she can be proud of for years to come.

We are so incredibly proud of you, Carissa! Your creativity, imagination and talent have been recognised on a state-wide level, and we cannot wait to hear you share your beautiful poem with our school community at our Week 10 Whole School Assembly.

Dynamite Debaters Are Through to Round 3!

A massive congratulations to our Valley View Dynamite Debaters, who have secured another fantastic win today and are now through to Round 3 of the Premier’s Debating Challenge Knockout Finals!

Today’s topic was:
“That Year 5 and 6 kids should have to help out in their community for two hours a week as homework.”

As the affirmative team, our debaters did an outstanding job of making sure their arguments targeted the heart of the topic. They focused on developing important life skills, improving student wellbeing and the benefits of building stronger connections with the community.

Once again, their rebuttals were a real strength and helped push the team towards another successful result.

It certainly wasn’t an easy debate. The negative team presented strong arguments around student workload, the importance of free time, and balancing community service with sport, family time and other commitments.

But our Dynamite Debaters were able to hold their ground, respond effectively and come away with the win!

A massive congratulations to Harper, Olivia, Matt, Fraser and Carissa on another outstanding performance.

Round 3 of the Knockout Finals, here we come!

BWPSSA Athletics Carnival 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

On Friday 28th August, 49 VVPS students proudly represented our school at the Brisbane Water PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival.

All of our students gave their very best effort, demonstrating determination and school spirit throughout the day.

A special congratulations to Will D, who placed 2nd in the 10yrs 100m and Indi B, who placed 3rd in the 11yrs 100m. What an incredible achievement!

Both students will now go on to represent Brisbane Water PSSA at the Sydney North PSSA Athletics Carnival, being held on Monday 21st September at Sydney Olympic Park. We wish them the very best of luck!

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Mrs O'Reilly and Mrs Davis, for acting as our school team managers on the day. We would also like to thank Mrs Harpur, Mrs Hollingsworth, Miss Wheeler, Miss Casey and Miss Cain for officiating and supporting the carnival.

We are incredibly proud of all of our VVPS competitors. Their effort, enthusiasm and sportsmanship were amazing and certainly did our school proud!

Central Coast Showcase

On Thursday the 27th August, both our 3-6 choir and our advanced recorder group performed in Central Coast Showcase at Laycock Street Community Theatre.

The choir was part of a mini massed choir, comprising of 4 choirs from various Central Coast public schools.
The recorder group was also part of a combined performance.

The students performed beautifully and represented the school with absolute pride.

Dynamite Debaters Are Through to Round 2!

A huge congratulations to our Valley View Dynamite Debaters, who competed in their first round of the Premier’s Debating Challenge knockout finals today.

As the affirmative team, they debated the challenging topic:

“That primary school teachers should set a research project as homework over every school holiday.”

This was certainly a difficult side to argue, but the team set up their case extremely well. They presented strong arguments around building independence, exploring different ways to use technology and developing research skills, while keeping their arguments focused on students and their learning.

The highlight, however, was their outstanding teamwork and rebuttals. The team worked incredibly well together to respond to the opposition’s case, with Matt delivering an incredible 3 minutes and 20 seconds of rebuttal, systematically addressing the other team’s arguments and responses.

Their strong case and impressive rebuttals earned them the win, which means the Dynamite Debaters are officially through to Round 2 of the knockout finals!

An outstanding achievement. Great work, Dynamite Debaters!

Who keeps a school running? It takes a pretty incredible team.

The ones who answer the phones, patch up scraped knees, find the missing hat, support a child through a tricky moment, help in classrooms, organise the million things happening behind the scenes - and somehow always know exactly who, what and where!

This PSA Schools Recognition Week, we’re celebrating our incredible School Administrative and Support Staff and the enormous contribution they make to Valley View every single day.

So much of what they do happens quietly and behind the scenes, but their impact is felt in every corner of our school. They know our students, care for our families and are always ready to step in wherever they are needed.

This year’s theme is “Thriving Schools Start With Us” - and we couldn’t agree more.

To our wonderful support staff: thank you. For the big things, the little things and the countless things that often go unnoticed. Your kindness, patience, dedication and care make Valley View a better place.

We are incredibly lucky to have you.

Indigenous Literacy Day

Our Kindergarten students were very lucky to welcome some wonderful students from Narara Valley High School to Valley View today to celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day!

Our visitors shared some beautiful stories with our Kindy students, making for a fun and engaging morning of reading, listening and learning together.

We were also excited to show our visitors around our Cultural Room and share this special space within our school.

A big thank you to the students and staff from Narara Valley High School for spending the morning with us and helping us celebrate the importance of stories, culture and connection.

VIEW START 2026 | Big School Starts Here!

Getting ready for Kindergarten is a big adventure - and View Start is here to make it a little easier!

Our transition to school program helps our 2027 Kindergarten students become familiar with Valley View, meet their teachers and new friends, and build confidence before their first day of big school.

Our final session on 25 November will include a special View Start Graduation and Parent Information Session.
