TAS SES - Wynyard Unit Wynyard SES. Our community, our State Emergency Service

11/07/2026

With strong winds, unusually high sea levels, and rain expected across the state over the next few days (11-12 July), it's time to make sure you're prepared!

A cold front crossing Tasmania is expected to bring:

💨 Strong and gusty winds from Sunday through to Tuesday
🌧️ Rainfall that may cause river rises and localised flooding
🌊 Unusually high sea levels and tides, with the potential for coast inundation in south east Tasmania.
Our crews are ready to assist anyone in need, and we encourage Tasmanians to prepare by:
🍂 Reduce risk where you can by clearing your gutters and drains and removing trees where it is safe to do so.
🏘️ Secure outdoor items, including furniture and play equipment.
🧒 Supervise children closely.
🏘️ Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
🐄 Manage pets and livestock.
🔦 Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
🌳 Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
🌊 Stay away from flood waters.
🚗 Drive to the conditions and turn on your headlights.
👀 Monitor local conditions and be ready to act quickly if the situation changes.

Wow, and just like that, 4 years has passed.

We have experienced a number of severe weather events in the past few years, particularly this time of year and the next few months ahead.

Now is a great time to make sure you are prepared, the small things can make a huge difference prior to the next weather event. Make sure your gutters are clean of leaf litter; secure any furniture and outdoor items; trim old and overgrown branches, and make sure your emergency services have a clear path to your property, our SES, TFS, and Ambulance services need a safe passage to enter your property to help you when you need us.

And look out for your neighbours, particularly those not as mobile as they’d like to be.

The next few days could be a bit rough, and wet (not too bad), so have a plan in place, make sure those back up torches and equipment are in good condition and ready for when you need them.

Our volunteers are always here to help, however the small things you can do to avoid our assistance will allow us to focus on the extraordinary cases that we saw this time in 2022

We were humbled to provide our small part in todays ceremony’s in our municipality by providing traffic control and attending services at Wynyard’s Dawn Service, Somersets morning service, and Wynyard’s 11am service

Thank you Wynyard RSL , veterans , guest speakers and our community for the magnificent turn out, and respect to those that have fallen before us, and honour to those who continue to walk amongst our community today ❤️
