Here are our new babies - Jinx and his unnamed sister.
Jinx is a sweet little boy, loves his bottle and his bed.
His sister is bigger and not as quiet.
She has her eyes open and is a little older than Jinx.
I love how they have different coloured noses!

I’ll take some better photos soon 💕

A local police officer in Captains Flat made a late-night call to Wildcare’s 24/7 Helpline after finding a female wombat that had been hit by a car.

After checking her pouch, a precious pinkie boy was rescued. Weighing just 258 grams with his eyes still closed, the tiny pinkie needed urgent care.

After speaking with Wildcare’s wombat coordinator, Vicki, the officer received guidance on how to safely handle and care for the pinkie until Vicki could get to them - because of that quick action and expert advice, the baby wombat is now safe, feeding well, and gaining weight.

Every day, people call our 24/7 Wildcare Helpline for urgent wildlife rescues and advice. Our dedicated volunteers guide callers, coordinate rescuers, and help ensure injured and orphaned wildlife get the care they need.

We are still yet to name this little gem, so if you have any ideas - we'd love to hear them!

To everyone who shows up...

To the ones who pull over on busy roads.
Who set their alarms for 3am.
Who kneel in the mud, in the heat, in the dark,
because someone needed help and you were there.

You may never know the full story of every animal you've helped.
But they made it home because of you.

Thank you for being the kind of person
who believes every life is worth stopping for.

The animals can't say it, so we will.
Thank you, from Vets for Compassion 💙

Today, March 3rd, is World Wildlife Day!

Biodiversity is in crisis, with wildlife populations declining by an average of 73% since 1970. Over 47,000 species are currently threatened with extinction worldwide.

Australia has one of the highest rates of biodiversity loss globally, with over 2,000 threatened species. Over 100 species have become extinct since European settlement, including the world’s highest rate of mammal extinctions. Driven by habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change, major declines affect iconic animals like koalas, greater gliders, and numerous bird species.

Helping our wildlife involves creating safe, natural habitats in your backyard by planting native species, providing fresh water, and reducing environmental hazards like plastic pollution and dangerous fencing. Key actions include keeping pets contained, driving cautiously at dawn/dusk, and supporting conservation groups through donations or volunteering.

Their future is in our hands! What simple actions can you take to support your local wildlife? 🫶

GREATER GLIDER JOEY
This tiny greater glider joey was rescued by a young person out walking in the bush yesterday. This little precious creature was brought to Possumwood and a after some subcutaneous fluids to start the rehydration process was transferred ASAP to a carer with expertise in caring for this endangered species.
Thankyou to Logan and his dad Ryan for rescuing this little glider. Logan, even when so young ,already donates to Animals Australia which is one of the major contributors to the building of Possumwood Wildlife Hospital.
Thankyou to Shelley from South Coast Wildlife Care for taking in this little glider - a beautiful little female.
