At Woori Yallock Primary School we aim to have every student develop the skills required to become life long learners, valuable members of society and achieve personal excellence in a caring, vibrant and safe learning community. An emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy with a focus on learning growth, and building a shared language for learning among the students, staff and families is providing for c
ontinuous improvement. The Teaching & Learning that happens both inside and outside our classrooms is based on latest research. Examples of this include using the Fountas & Pinnell toolkit for reading comprehension, SWST for spelling and Michael Ymer’s planning tools and resources for numeracy. Our fantastic teachers are complemented by Literacy coaches and Math Specialists. This enables us to provide a comprehensive program that caters for all students. We also have specialist teachers in Art, LOTE, ICT and P.E. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard which leads to high levels of engagement and 21st Century learning. We are an environmentally friendly school with features such as a frog bog, vegetable garden, native flora area and water tanks that provide the greater proportion of water required for daily use. Providing a supportive, positive and caring environment is also a priority. Our School Chaplain and Primary Welfare Officer work effectively with all staff members to support the emotional needs and wellbeing of all students. Our grounds are spacious and allow for both active and passive play. Features include a double basketball court sealed area, three separate play equipment areas, a grassed oval as well as extensive gardens and lawn. The school has a close link with its local community. Parents are an integral part of the school’s operation. The school enjoys the support of local businesses and has a cooperative relationship with local organisations. Our school is a semi rural school situated in beautiful grounds with fantastic scenery as a backdrop. We are constructing a new Science/Cookery area and outdoor learning area. Our Computer Lab has been upgraded to 25 ultra modern computers. http://www.kitchengardenfoundation.org.au/about-us/the-program/kitchen-garden-schools/view/001A000000uBIv7IAG/woori-yallock-primary-school
