🔥This afternoon Woombah Brigade responded to a bush fire at Tabbimoble. 🔥

Upon arrival we found a fire burning along the eastern side of the highway and were quickly redirected to a grass fire burning on the property.

With crews from Ashby, Gulmarrad, Casino, Wyrallah and Woodburn, the fire was under control within a couple of hours.

This is a reminder that even though permits are not required at this time you still need to notify the NSW RFS of your burn. This can easily be done via the NSW RFS website.

Please see info below regarding the end of the current bushfire danger period (BFDP).
Permits in the Clarence Valley will be required again on 1st September 2026 (unless significant fire activity causes the start of the BFDP to be brought forward). Between now and September, residents are still required to notify their neighbours and the RFS 24 hours prior to undertaking any burning on their land. A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Monday, 27 October 2025 for the Far North Coast, North Coast, Northern Slopes and New England areas. Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger.

Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

For more information on Total Fire Ban rules, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr

Thank you to the Knitting Fairy who dropped off these 3 gorgeous bears at my home today!
Bears like these are used by the Brigade to give out to children who are involved in incidents and need some comfort.

Thank you so much for your effort and support. smiles, Cate

Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning in most NSW Local Government Areas.

If you’re planning on conducting a burn, you’ll require a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or brigade. Fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and reduces the danger to you, your property and the community.

Residents and land holders must know the rules when it comes to the use of fire. Along with having the required fire permits, you need to notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

For more information on the Bush Fire Danger Period and requirements around safe burning, visit our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP
