🚒❤️ Happy Thank a First Responder Day! ❤️🚒

Today we're giving a huge shout-out to the legends who run towards the emergency

To the firefighters, SES volunteers, paramedics, police officers, emergency dispatchers and all the other first responders who answer the call when things go pear-shaped — thank you.

You work long hours, miss family events, brave terrible weather, face dangerous situations, and somehow still manage to keep showing up for your communities

We think you're pretty awesome 👏

We watched parts of WA take the full force of this massive weather front yesterday, and now we're starting to see the leading edge of it here in SA.

The attached image shows the current warning area issued by the Bureau of Meteorology

At our place, the wind is definitely picking up, and I've already heard a couple of claps of thunder in the distance ⛈️

A few simple things you can do now:
✅ Secure or bring inside any loose items around your property
✅ Stay clear of large trees, particularly gum trees
✅ Avoid unnecessary travel if conditions deteriorate
✅ Keep an eye on weather warnings and changing conditions

A little preparation now can prevent a lot of trouble later (sound familiar 😜)

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you had done sooner to prepare for bushfire season? 🔥

Maybe it was:
Installing more water storage
💧Installing more water storage
🛠 Learning how to use your equipment properly
💦Ensuring your equipment works and is efficient
🪵Clearing vegetation earlier
📋Creating a proper bushfire plan
⚡Buying a generator or pump
👨‍👩‍👧Making sure the whole family knew what to do

❌ They’re away for the weekend?
❌They can’t get home in time?

In an emergency, confidence and preparation matter. Every adult (and capable older child) in your household should know how to operate your bushfire equipment safely and confidently

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the forecasted rainfall for the next 3mths (June-Aug) has a 60%-80% chance of being below average for the following areas:
💧south-eastern Queensland
💧eastern Tasmania
💧majority of New South Wales
💧Victoria
💧southern and eastern South Australia
💧south-western Western Australia

The attached map shows many parts of Australia could see rainfall potentially falling into the lowest 20% of historical records for those areas 🤯

It's important to start planning now, not just to make sure you have enough water to get through your day to day, but to ensure you will have dedicated firewater for next bushfire season. Some questions to think about include:
✅How much water does your household use?
✅How much water can you store?
✅Can you buy in/access other water if needed?

Preparation starts long before summer 🔥💧
