Flood Rescue volunteers play a critical role in helping communities stay safe during floods and severe weather events. From assisting people trapped by rising water to supporting emergency response operations, Flood Rescue teams provide a specialist capability that can make a real difference when communities need it most.
To continue responding to future emergencies, we're looking for more people to join our Flood Rescue teams.
You don't need previous emergency services experience. We provide cost free training and support to help you develop valuable skills in flood rescue, boating, teamwork and emergency response.
Whether you're looking for a new challenge, practical skills, lifelong friendships, or a meaningful way to give back, there's a place for you in at the NSW SES.

⛈️Thunderstorms are forecast across the region today and into this evening. We can expect to see heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding. Damaging winds and large hail may also occur.

You should monitor conditions by checking warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and following the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?

Flooding is no longer expected on the Richmond River at Bungawalbin.

While flooding has eased, low-lying roads, bridges and causeways in the area may still be impacted by floodwater and caution should be taken.

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to STAY INFORMED about predicted minor flooding on the Richmond River:

- Bungawalbin and surrounds

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a trough and cloud band over NSW will produce widespread rain over north east NSW during Monday and overnight into Tuesday. Heavy rain is possible in the afternoon and evening with thunderstorms.

Catchments in the flood watch area are wet to moderately wet.

River level rises area expected across the area with the forecast rainfall and areas of minor flooding may develop from Monday evening.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:

- Low-lying roads, bridges and causeways
- Low-lying farmland
