Roadworks Update

The Shire is aware of community concerns regarding safety at the intersection of Robinson Road West and Great Southern Highway.

We have been working closely and consistently with Main Roads WA and the contractor responsible for resealing this section of Robinson Road in mid 2024. These works require repair under warranty, and arrangements are finally in place for the contractor to return and complete this work.

While this process has taken longer than is acceptable, Main Roads WA attended the site earlier this week to repaint the stop lines on both approaches to Robinson Road West. The road centreline will also be repainted shortly to further improve visibility and safety.

The warranty works are scheduled to be completed in September–October, when weather conditions are more suitable. Once these works are finished, the Shire will reinstate audible (rumble) strips as soon as possible.

If you witness illegal or dangerous driving at this intersection, or anywhere within the Shire, please report it directly to WA Police, as these reports assist with enforcement and safety monitoring.

2025/26 Road Program Update

The 2025/26 contracted road program has now been completed. Recent works included:
• Two sections of Robinson Road West (near Albany Highway)
• Sections of Oxley Road
• Onslow Road floodway

Linemarking on Robinson Road West and Oxley Road, including reinstatement from works undertaken in previous years, are booked to be completed over the coming months.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while these important works were carried out. The Shire remains committed to improving road safety and infrastructure across our community.
