MCCI Multicultural Communities

MCCI Multicultural Communities MCCI is a community-based not-for-profit charity supporting multicultural communities for 50 years.

As of October 2021, SCARF Refugee Support and MCCI have joined forces to provide even greater support for culturally diverse communities in the Illawarra.

More than 1,000 people in the Illawarra speak Portuguese at home. Some of them attend MCCI’s Portuguese Social Group, which meets weekly at the South Coast Portuguese Association Ltd, and have been doing so for years.

The Census is one way we can better understand the needs of the multicultural communities in the region. There is still time to complete your Census form: start.census.abs.gov.au

And if you know of someone who would like to join one of our 30 multicutural social groups across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, ACT and Queanbeyan, get in touch on 1800 11 6224 or email [email protected]

“A little piece of Poland in Wollongong”. A wonderful 70th Anniversary celebration with the Polish Association Wollongong Inc , 5th September 2026.

Built by volunteers, for seven decades the Polish Centre has been a place of connection and support, to bring people together to study, share and celebrate Polish language, culture, and community. Among the 200 guests this evening, we caught up with Wilhelm who turned 102 this year and Wanda who has volunteered for 40 years and still runs a weekly Polish language program on Vox FM - The Voice Of The Illawarra.

Thanks for having us and Happy 70th Anniversary.

What are your goals for Wollongong?

City of Wollongong is inviting the community to share what you would like to see for our local community, Australia and the world.

Wollongong Goals is a world-first pilot with Canva exploring a new way to hear from the community and understand what matters to people.

Whether it’s more opportunities for young people, a stronger sense of community, better access to services, a greener city or something completely different, Council wants to hear your ideas.

You can share your goals online at:

Every voice helps build a picture of the future our community wants to see.

Take a few minutes to have your say and share your goals for Wollongong.
