An amazing opportunity for local Dapto young women to try out some practical skills which could lead to a career!
Iโm looking forward to supporting Girls on Fire Ltd as they bring their fantastic Fire & Resilience Program to Dapto on Thursday 10 September, 2026.
This free, one-day program give young women and gender-diverse young people aged 14โ19 the opportunity to step into the world of fire and emergency services through hands-on activities, realistic emergency scenarios and team challenges.
Participants have the chance to:
๐ฅ Experience practical firefighting and emergency response activities
๐ช Build confidence and resilience
๐ค Develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills
๐ Meet and learn from emergency service professionals
๐ฉโ๐ Explore future career, education and volunteering pathways in emergency services
Girls on Fire is doing important work encouraging more young people to see themselves as future leaders and giving them practical skills that can help strengthen the resilience of our communities. Itโs fantastic to see a program like this coming to our region and providing young people with an opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new skills and discover where a future in emergency services could take them.
A big thank you to Girls on Fire Ltd, the emergency service personnel, volunteers and everyone involved in bringing these opportunities to young people across the Illawarra and South Coast. ๐ฅ๐
