At 01:17 on Sunday morning, 258 attended a motor vehicle accident resulting in minor injuries. The scene was cleaned up, and from support of NSW ambulance and police the victims of the crash were taken in to hospital.

If your smoke alarms aren’t working or you are just unsure about the fire safety of your home you can book in a FREE home fire safety visit.

Make sure you push the button, it might just save your life.

Last night the fire rescue semi trailer came to town.

This was another training drill to give us a refresh of our skills in case of a fire emergency, this drill contained:
-simulated unit fire in the semi trailer
-multiple firefighting methods including fire attack and search and rescue
- practice of strong and clear fire ground communication through radios

These drills help to keep us prepared for anything and keep our community safe

Our annual Santa Run is happening Christmas Eve, and we’re excited to share the planned route so you can be ready to wave hello 👋🎄

📅 Tuesday 24 December 2025
⏰ Departing Coledale Fire Station at 3:00pm

🗺️ Planned Route:

🚒 Leave Coledale Fire Station
➡️ Park Street
➡️ Cliff Street
➡️ Along Lawrence Hargrave Drive (LHD)
➡️ Up Cater Street
➡️ Down Young Street
➡️ Into Rawson Street and Gifford Street
➡️ Back along LHD
➡️ Up Squires Crescent
➡️ Coledale Hospital – visiting patients and staff ❤️
➡️ Back along LHD
➡️ Up and around Hemsley Place
➡️ Coledale Surf Life Saving Club
➡️ Final run back along LHD to Coledale Fire Station

🎄 Times are approximate and may vary slightly depending on conditions.

Bring the kids out, listen for the sirens, and give Santa and your local firefighters a wave 👋🎅🚒

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our Captain and dear friend, Captain Johnny Morrison of Coledale Fire Station (Station 258).

Johnny passed away last week, surrounded by his wife Sarah, their daughter Izzie, and his family. In his final act of generosity and courage, Johnny gave the gift of life as an organ donor — a true reflection of the person he was.

Johnny served his community with unwavering dedication, integrity and pride. As Captain of 258, he led by example — steady, humble, and always putting his crew and community first.

He was the kind of leader who never needed to raise his voice to earn respect. His kindness, humour and quiet strength shaped the culture of this station, and that influence will live on in all of us.

Our thoughts, love and deepest support are with Sarah, Izzie and Johnny’s family, as well as our 258 crew and the wider firefighting community who will feel this loss profoundly.

We kindly ask that everyone respects the family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

Johnny will forever remain part of our fire family.
Rest easy, Captain — we’ll take it from here.
