We have been so lucky this term to welcome Tracey from BaleGrow to Cool Frogs ECE Wodonga to talk to the older children about gardening and sustainability.
Tracey discussed with the children about how we can make pots for our plants using things that we might already have around the house (old soda and milk bottles). The kinder children also got to plant our own seedlings in our new Straw Bale Gardens! We look forward to hopefully sharing some delicious herbs and vegetables with all of our families!

The spooky season is upon us at Cool Frogs ECE Wodonga! There are so many benefits to having a sensory tray set up in the early learning environment:

📝 - Fine Motor Control & Pre-Writing: Scooping, stirring, and transferring rice grains with spoons strengthens hand and finger muscles, directly building the precision grip needed for holding a pencil.
👀- Hand-Eye Coordination: Balancing rice on a spoon and aiming for small bowls refines visual-motor tracking and spatial accuracy.
📣 Language & Vocabulary Growth: Describing actions—such as scooping, pouring, full, empty, or crunchy—expands conversational skills and descriptive vocabulary.
☺️ - Calming & Emotional Regulation: The repetitive, rhythmic sound and tactile feel of dry rice provide a soothing, therapeutic outlet that helps children decompress and self-regulate.

Kicking off World Space Week in the Kinder room with some Space Monsters! August has already been such a busy month for our friends at Cool Frogs ECE Wodonga!

On the 10th, we welcomed Reptile Encounters who came to show the children some very special friends and shared lots of information about the animals that came along!

The children really enjoyed learning where the animals live, what they eat and how they protect themselves from other animals!

We met Cheryl the Leaf/Stick Insect, Shrek the Green Tree Frog, Popcorn the Shingleback Lizard, Mr Hardhead the Turtle, Bluey the Blue-Tongue Lizard, A Children’s Python, Tiny the 3metre Olive Python and even a baby crocodile!

🐢Did you know that to stay underwater for long periods of time, turtles actually breathe through their bottom?
🐍The Dreamtime Story of The Rainbow Serpent is based off the rainbow shimmer colours of the Olive Python
🐊Crocodiles don’t have tongues!
