Yesterday Army Cadets from 64 ACU along with Navy Cadets from TS Emu had the honor in participating in the civic service at the Burnie cenotaph. They all approached this task with focus, respect and reverence to all ANZAC members past and current.

This was the first year for a quite a while that both Army and Navy cadets participated in mounting a catafalque party.

Members from 64 ACU would like to thank CPL Paul Wells for his continued support in training them in ceremonial duties.

To the member of 64ACU I would like to thank you for all your efforts in preparing for the service and you proud representation of both the unit and the AAC as a whole.

Lest we forget.

In the first week of holidays cadets from over Tasmania had come together for the 2025 Annual Field Exercise (AFX) at Buckland Military Training Area. Cadets had brought out their skills from Bandaging to building catapults with the experience of doing 3 electives, including First aid, Navigation and field engineering. This AFX was quite different to what we normally do, this time there were different tiers (1, 2 and 3) instead of companies.
Tier 1 was a basic intro to AFX, cadets learnt new things or expanded their prior knowledge with some navigation, ratel and some basic drill, getting ready for future camps they might attend. Tier 2 had to expand their knowledge to build shelters with no hootchies, only natural resources, learn how to read compasses and refresh their Navigation skills and learn how to treat first aid on many injuries. Tier 3 was harder, cadets had to enter harbours without getting caught and retrieve the items that were around the campsite, they were also covered from head to toe in camo paint.
Overall, the week was an amazing experience and very cold at some points, the day cadets were looking forward to was Range Day. By Sunday everyone was tired and couldn’t wait to get home, take long showers and sleep. Can’t wait until next AFX!!
