Good friends don't just like you; they have your back, respect your boundaries, and really listen when you talk. You deserve friendships where you feel safe to be yourself.

🐮 The WSHS Show Team is officially underway! 🐮

Our brand-new Livestock Show Team has held its first practice as we kick off preparations for the 2027 show season! 🎉 Students are getting hands-on experience, building their confidence and learning the skills needed to handle and parade stud cattle and led steers.

It’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter for agriculture at Wilsonton State High School, and we can’t wait to see what this team achieves in 2027! 🏆🐂

💚 What a fantastic way to celebrate Queensland Mental Health Week at WSHS! Our Mental Health Week Expo brought this year’s theme, Build Community, Build Wellbeing, to life! 🌟

Thank you to all the wonderful agencies who joined us, shared valuable information and took the time to connect with our students and promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

A special thanks to Betta Electrical, Amalfi Pizza & Pasta, Guzman y Gomez, Burger Urge and The Wilsonton Hotel for generously donating prizes for our Expo Passport draw. 🎉 Students who completed their passports by visiting every stall went into the draw to win one of six prizes. Winners will be drawn tomorrow!

We appreciate everyone’s support in helping make our Mental Health Week Expo a success. 💜💚

As part of our NAIDOC celebrations, marking 50 Years of Deadly, we were incredibly fortunate to welcome the amazing Sean Choolburra to WSHS for a special school assembly!

A proud Girramay, Kalkadoon, Pitta Pitta and Gugu Yalanji man, Sean is an acclaimed comedian, dancer, actor and storyteller (you might even know him as Maynard in Bluey!). From growing up in Townsville and performing with Bangarra Dance Theatre to his comedy career, Sean shared his life story with our school community in his own unique way.

From the moment Sean stepped on stage, our students and staff were completely engaged, with plenty of laughter, dancing, storytelling and audience participation throughout the performance.

We also enjoyed some incredible traditional dancing from our students before wrapping up the day with a BBQ on the oval.

Thank you, Sean, for making our NAIDOC celebrations so memorable!

🇯🇵 From Tokyo to Kyoto, our students enjoyed an incredible adventure in Japan, exploring famous sights, experiencing traditional culture and making memories to last a lifetime!

Trip highlights included:
📍 Exploring Tokyo’s famous sights, including Asakusa, Meiji Jingu, Takesh*ta Street and Akihabara
👘 Experiencing Japanese culture through kimono, Japanese sweet-making, gold-leaf chopsticks and taiko drumming
🏯 Discovering historic Takayama, Gero Onsen, Kenrokuen Garden and Kyoto’s beautiful temples
⛩️ Visiting the iconic red torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine and the Pokémon Centre

A special highlight was visiting Naruo High School to reconnect with our Japanese exchange students and experience Japanese school life firsthand.

A huge thank you to our teachers and everyone who supported our fundraising efforts to make this unforgettable experience possible! 💜💚

Seeing something wrong and staying quiet helps the person doing the harm, not the person being hurt. Check in, call it out, tell someone, because your voice matters more than you think.

💚 Mental Health Week Expo – Join the Fun on Tuesday! 💜

As part of Queensland Mental Health Week, we are excited to host our annual Mental Health Expo, celebrating this year's theme, "Build Community, Build Wellbeing." The theme highlights the importance of connection, belonging, and community in supporting positive mental health and wellbeing.

Students will have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of local agencies and organisations that provide valuable support services for young people . There will be plenty of interactive activities, information stalls, giveaways, sausage sizzle and opportunities to learn more about the supports available within our community.

All students will receive an Expo Passport and are encouraged to visit as many agency stalls as possible to collect stamps throughout the event. The more stamps collected, the greater the chance of winning some fantastic prizes generously donated by local community businesses.

A huge thank you to our prize sponsors:
Betta Electrical
Burger Urge
Guzman y Gomez
The Wilsonton Hotel
Amalfi Pizza & Pasta

Come along, get involved, make connections, learn about the supports available to you, and celebrate the idea that when we build community, we build wellbeing. 💚💜

We look forward to seeing everyone there! 🥳

Our Year 11 Hospitality Practices students put their skills into action, hosting a successful event as part of their Unit 2 assessment.

Through teamwork, communication and time management, the event ran smoothly, with all students successfully completing the unit.

The experience was a positive way for students to start exam block, and all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well done, 11A! 🍽️💜💚
