As we head into winter, this is a timely reminder for everyone to take extra care on our roads. Rain, fog and reduced visibility can quickly create dangerous driving conditions.

Victor Harbor Road in particular is a known trouble spot, so please slow down, leave extra distance between vehicles and drive to the conditions.

Fortunately there were no major injuries from this morning’s incident.

Stay safe and look out for each other on the roads. 🚒

Hi fam, we’ve got big news!

There’s a new teammate at Willunga Station.

Watch this space (literally) for our new team photos!

(Spoiler alert: the new teammate is not Jenni Mitton MP, she’s a long time supporter!)

Looking after our physical health and keeping hydrated was the topic of tonight’s training. Plus a vertical tasting of our electrolytes so members can stash their favourite flavours in the pocket of their yellows 🌈

Good luck to Willunga Senior Firefighter Kate! She’s already a gold medal winner to us! 🥇

It’s hard to say who had more fun: the kids at Willunga Primary School or the firefighters?! 🌈💦

Have you got a community event that we could support? Drop in to the Station any Wednesday night at 7:30 and have a chat about it.

We’ll support what we can in addition to our 24/7 fire and emergency volunteer service 🚒 ❤️

Today- 1 May - is the end of the official Fire Danger Season.

That does not mean that there is no risk for fires. For example today is not a good day to burn piles: it’s windy and very dry. Wait til later in the season once we’ve had some rain.

Please always use caution when burning and don’t hesitate to call 000 if you lose control of a planned fire: we’d rather get there too early than too late!

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.

Today, members of Willunga CFS pause to reflect and remember the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of our ANZACs.

We are honoured to have had the opportunity to lay a wreath on behalf of our brigade, paying our respects to those who have served, and those who continue to serve.

Lest we forget.

Yesterday Willunga CFS crews attended a grass fire on Range Rd.

Thanks to the quick actions of crews from Range Hope Forest CFS, McLaren Flat SA Country Fire Service, Mclaren Vale SA Country Fire Service, Yundi CFS and Aldinga Beach Country Fire Service, along with air support from Aerotech Australia the fire was contained before it could impact nearby houses.

This is a timely reminder that fire season has not yet concluded. We ask everyone to remain vigilant, be mindful of fire risks, and report any smoke immediately.

Thank you to Australia for the photos of the drops.
