With another wet spell on the way you need to make sure you are being safe while using your fireplace. 🔥

✅Always use a fire screen in front of an open fire.
✅Keep items that can burn, such as clothes horses, at least 1m away.
✅Extinguish open fires before leaving home or going to sleep.
✅Always supervise children near open fires.
✅Ensure ashes are cold before discarding.
✅Only burn dry, clean wood.

Victoria - After another burst of showers this weekend it won’t take long before that front and low moves close to the state and is showing signs of slowing down once it reaches Bass strait due to that second system south of WA. What does this mean? Rainfall will be widespread across the state with the alps seeing the heaviest falls 50-150mm between Sunday and Wednesday a lot of this will fall as snow especially the higher mountains of Mt.Hotham and Falls Creek so 50-80cms of snow is likely.

Depending on the low position it will also be windy but if the low travels closer to the coast southern parts won’t see extreme winds nevertheless it will be a windy period with possible severe weather warnings for damaging winds over large parts. The low will enter western Bass Strait between 980-985hPa by Monday or Tuesday before slowly weakening and moving slowly east. Rain and showers, cold air hail and thunder will impact most of the state. Rainfall will be very good especially south west vic, north east vic and the ranges in general.
