🦋 WORLD BUTTERFLY DAY 🦋

Did you know that World Butterfly Day is celebrated in June each year? World Butterfly Day aims to raise awareness about the benefits and necessity of butterfly conservation and celebrate the joy of butterfly gardening and habitat restoration. Butterflies are beautiful, excellent pollinators, and teachers of metamorphosis!

Butterflies also remind us that growth takes time, care, and support. Every butterfly is unique, and every child is too.

At Willmot Public School, our Butterflies class is a place where students are encouraged to listen, learn, lead, and grow with confidence. We are proud of the caring learning environment created by our staff and students each day.

Just like butterflies, our students continue to spread their wings, build independence, and show their strengths in many different ways.

We celebrate all of the wonderful students in our Butterflies class and thank the staff and families who support them every day. 💙🦋

🌏 World Environment Day 🌿

Today we celebrate caring for our environment and learning from nature.

At our school, our students are actively learning how to care for the world around them. They help look after the Cumberland Plains on our school grounds and learn about the plants, animals, and creatures that call this special place home.

Through our garden program, students care for plants and explore bush tucker, building knowledge and respect for the land and First Nations ways of caring for Country.

We are proud of our students for showing care, respect, and responsibility for our environment every day.

Together, we can all help protect our planet. 💚

*** AFL Gala Day Reminder ***

All students playing in the AFL Gala Day on Wednesday, 3 June must wear a mouthguard while playing. Mouthguards are available to purchase from the office for $5, however as they need to be fitted to your child's mouth, they will not be available for purchase on the day of the event.

Students are welcome to bring their mouthguard in a labelled container before the event and we will hold on to them ready for the gala day.

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) - 2 days to go!

NSS is one of the Australia’s most beloved annual reading events, bringing together millions of children, families, libraries, schools and early learning centres to share the same story, at the same time, right across Australia.

NSS 2026 will take place on 27 May 2026 at 12:00pm AEST. It’s a joyful celebration of reading, literacy, community – and a reminder of the essential role libraries play in nurturing learning, connection and a love of stories.

Our students will be joining in with their class and a link will be shared on the day for families who wish to join in from home. 📖
